Synopsis

Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (164-241 AH / 780-855 AD) was a jurist whose later students would codify the Hanbali school of Islamic jurisprudence. His kunya was Abū ʿAbd Allāh and his nickname was Al-Mukhtafī. Ahmad ibn Isa ibn Zayd 's sixty years of secret life is proof of the nickname given to him.

Bishr al-Marisi full name Abu 'Abd al-Rahman Bishr ibn Ghiyath ibn Abi Karimah al-Marisi or simply Bishr ibn Ghiyath al-Marisi was a 9th-century religious scholar and theologian. He was infamous for his controversial views which earned him the scorn of his contemporary Muslim scholars.

The Arif Agha Mosque later known as the Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal Mosque is a historic mosque located in the Rusafa area of Baghdad, Iraq. The mosque was built during the Ottoman period, and it contains a small mausoleum which is purported to be the burial place of Ahmad ibn Hanbal, the founder of the Hanbali school of thought.

Ghulam al-Khallal, full name Abu Bakr 'Abd al-Aziz ibn Ja'far, was a Muslim Hanbali scholar and theologian. He was a close student of Abu Bakr al-Khallal, hence he received his name Ghulam, which means assistant. Ghulam al-Khallal was also a trustworthy narrator of Hadith.
