The It Girl is the second studio album by English Britpop band Sleeper, [1] released in May 1996 (see 1996 in music). It was their most successful album, selling over 300,000 copies in the UK alone. [2] The album was released internationally; the US version has a different track listing along with alternative photos in the liner booklet. It was recorded in London over the winter of 1995 and 1996. [3]

Xtort is the eighth studio album by German industrial band KMFDM, released on June 25, 1996, by Wax Trax! Records. It was recorded from the end of 1995 through early 1996, shortly after the death of Wax Trax! co-founder and band friend Jim Nash. Xtort features a variety of guest artists from the industrial music scene and studio musicians from other genres, but includes limited participation from core member En Esch.
Free Peace Sweet is the third studio album by English rock band Dodgy. It was released on 17 June 1996 through A&M Records. Following frequent touring in the support of their second studio album Homegrown (1994), the band recorded its follow-up in Wessex Sound Studios in London with producer Hugh Jones. Remixes of "Motorway Man" by producer Steve Osbourne were released on 12" vinyl.

"Hey Dude" is a Britpop song by English psychedelic rock band Kula Shaker. Written by frontman Crispian Mills and Kula Shaker, the song was released as the third single from their 1996 debut studio album, K, on 26 August 1996. Produced by John Leckie, "Hey Dude" became the band's joint-highest-charting song in the United Kingdom, peaking at number two in September 1996. Internationally, the single charted in Australia, Ireland, and the Netherlands, as well as on the Canadian and US rock charts. In Australia, the song was ranked at number 60 on the Triple J Hottest 100 of 1996.
