The Maxies are a power pop/punk rock band based in Riverside, California, with its members using onstage pseudonyms and billing themselves from Nuuk, Greenland. [1] [2]
The band's music is largely influenced by Ramones, the Jam, Green Day, the Specials, They Might Be Giants, Purple Hearts, the Clash, Paul Collins and his band the Beat, the latter of whom they have toured with, along with other bands such as Reel Big Fish, Big D and the Kids Table, Suburban Legends, and Streetlight Manifesto. [3] [4] The identities of the band members are officially unknown, but it is rumored that one member was formerly a part of the band Squirtgun. [5]
Most of their physical releases have been put out by It's Alive Records, [6] and the cover of their 7-inch split single with Japanese band Kingons was drawn by DC Comics artist Tim Cochran. [7] In 2016, the band signed to Rock Ridge Music, with distribution by ADA/Warner Bros. Records, and released their second full-length album, Nuuk 'Em All, on April 22. [8] Aaron Barrett of Reel Big Fish has occasionally dressed up in the polar bear suit and has also performed with the band; he produced, played guitar and sang backing vocals on Nuuk 'Em All. [9]
Prone to "juvenile obscenities", [10] the band is known for their catchy sing-along pop punk tunes, on-stage antics, [11] and drunken polar bear mascot. [12] Because of their costumes and gimmicks, they are often likened to an evil version of the Aquabats.[ by whom? ] Their live show usually consists of the band making fun of themselves, the audience and any other bands performing at the show. Reel Big Fish is an American ska punk band from Huntington Beach, California. The band gained mainstream recognition in the mid-to-late 1990s during the third wave of ska with the release of the gold-certified album Turn the Radio Off. Soon after, the band lost mainstream recognition but gained an underground cult following. As of 2006, the band was no longer signed to a major record label and has since been independent. After numerous line-up changes, frontman Aaron Barrett is the last remaining founding member still performing in the band.
Goldfinger is an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1994. In their early years the band was considered a contributor to the movement of third-wave ska, a mid-1990s revitalization in the popularity of ska. However, the releases of Open Your Eyes and Disconnection Notice saw the band shed most of the ska influence, and they have been more commonly placed in the punk rock genre in later years.

Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts, when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. The band has been noted for its strict DIY work ethic, such as engineering, producing, and releasing their own albums and videos and self-promotion of their own shows.
