Kevin Ayers was an English singer-songwriter who was a major influential force in the English psychedelic music movement. Ayers was a founding member of the pioneering psychedelic band Soft Machine in the mid-1960s, and was closely associated with the Canterbury scene. He recorded a series of albums as a solo artist and over the years worked with Brian Eno, Syd Barrett, Bridget St John, John Cale, Elton John, Robert Wyatt, Andy Summers, Mike Oldfield, Nico and Ollie Halsall, among others. After living for many years in Deià, Majorca, he returned to the United Kingdom in the mid-1990s before moving to the south of France. His last album, The Unfairground, was released in 2007. The British rock journalist Nick Kent wrote: "Kevin Ayers and Syd Barrett were the two most important people in British pop music. Everything that came after came from them."

Hefner were a British indie rock band formed in east London in 1995. They were active from about 1996 until 2002; since then they have played together only once, for a tribute to the DJ John Peel, who was a strong supporter of theirs.

The first two discs contain almost their entire studio output, including the albums Unknown Pleasures and Closer, along with singles and compilation appearances. Discs three and four collect rare demos and live recordings, many of which were previously unreleased. All tracks are digitally remastered. It reached #70 in the UK.

Peel Sessions is an EP by the San Diego, California rock band Hot Snakes, released in 2005 by Swami Records. It was recorded in the Fall of 2004 while the band was on tour in the UK, for broadcast on BBC Radio 1's John Peel program. Hot Snakes would be one of the last groups to record such a session, as Peel died shortly afterwards. It is also the only Hot Snakes release not to feature artwork created by singer/guitarist Rick Froberg.
BBC Sessions is a compilation album featuring studio sessions and a live concert recorded by English rock group Led Zeppelin for the BBC. It was released on 11 November 1997, by Atlantic Records. Disc one consists of material from four different 1969 BBC sessions. Disc two contains most of the 1 April 1971 concert from the Paris Theatre in London. Disc three was only included in a limited run of album releases and features rare interviews from 1969, 1976/1977, and 1990.
Joy Division The Complete BBC Recordings is a collection of the two Peel Sessions recorded by Joy Division, two songs from the BBC Television programme Something Else and a live interview. It was released in 2000. The album was re-released as "Before and After – The BBC Sessions" in 2004, the Joy Division tracks included were the same, but it also contained a New Order album. The entire track listing of the album was later released as the second disc in the UK edition of The Best of Joy Division in 2008.

Swing the Heartache: The BBC Sessions is a compilation album by the English gothic rock band Bauhaus, released in 1989 by Beggars Banquet Records. "These sessions were recorded at the BBC studios in Maida Vale, London, for broadcast on Britain's national radio station, Radio One. The BBC do not impose editorial control on the material recorded, so while some artists use the opportunity to promote a version of their latest single, Bauhaus opted to explore 'off-the-record' ideas; experimenting with tracks that would later be re-recorded for record release, recording cover versions of songs they'd played during sound checks before live shows, or just trying something to see what happened. Each session was recorded and mixed in one day, and in most cases the group performed live in the studio with minimal overdubs, giving the tracks an additional edge. Five of these recordings were used on official record releases; Bauhaus felt the session version of 'Double Dare' was stronger than a later studio take and included it on their debut album; 'Departure' and 'Party of the First Part' were used as 'b' sides on 12" singles; 'Ziggy Stardust' and 'Third Uncle' were coupled on a single and became the group's biggest hit. Two other songs have never officially appeared on record before now; 'Poison Pen' was re-recorded but was not used and 'Night Time' is a cover of the Strangeloves' USA garage classic. Though these tracks were never recorded with a record release in mind, the complete BBC sessions are presented here legally for the first time, digitally re-mastered from the original tapes. They are a fascinating insight into the Bauhaus legacy."

The BBC Sessions is a live album by the British rock group Small Faces, released on 15 November 1999 on Strange Fruit Records. It is a collection of recordings the group made for the BBC. While mostly being made up of tracks recorded for Saturday Club in 1966, it also features three songs recorded for Top Gear in 1968. Accompanying these tracks are four interviews with Steve Marriott, and one featuring Kenney Jones.
