The Protectors (Danish : Livvagterne) is a Danish crime TV series from 2009 that follows the police bodyguard squad P.E.T. (Politiets Efterretningstjeneste), which is in charge of protecting VIPs, including Danish royalty and politicians. [1]

Overview

The series follows three recruits, Jasmina El-Murad (Cecilie Stenspil), Jonas Goldschmidt (André Babikian), and Rasmus Poulsen (Søren Vejby), who go swiftly from training camp to full-fledged police bodyguards. [1] Jasmina is the only woman, and an Egyptian Muslim, on the team. [2]

The Protectors was created and written by Peter Thorsboe and Mai Brostrøm. [1] The show was the third in a trilogy of shows created by Thorsboe: Unit 1 (Danish : Rejseholdet) and The Eagle (Danish : Ørnen: En krimi-odyssé).

Broadcast

The series screened in Australia in 2011 and 2012 on SBS and is available on DVD and Hulu with English subtitles. [3] [4]

Awards and nominations

It won an International Emmy Award from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for best non-American television drama series in 2009. [5] The series was filmed on location in Copenhagen (Denmark).

It won an International Emmy Award from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for best non-American television drama series in 2005. There were three seasons; the second season premiered in Denmark on 9 October 2005 and the third on 8 October 2006. The last episode originally aired in Denmark on 26 November 2006. The series was filmed on location in various parts of northern Europe, from Berlin (Germany) and Copenhagen (Denmark) to Stockholm (Sweden), Oslo (Norway) and Iceland.

Kieler Street is a Norwegian ten-part television crime series, which premiered on October 18, 2018 on TV 2 and TV 2 Sumo. It was created by Stig Frode Henriksen, Jesper Sundnes and Patrik Syversen. It was directed by Syversen and Cecilie A. Mosli. The main protagonist, Jonas Schulman is a former criminal who had started a new life and new identity in the fictional small town of Slusvik.
