The Redshift is the fourth album from the Finnish melodic death metal band Omnium Gatherum. It is the band's second release for the Candlelight Records label. The album features a number of creative aspects not yet attempted by the band.
A music video for the single 'Nail' was released in Autumn 2008.
The album placed 24th in the Finnish heavy metal charts during 2008.

They are considered one of the pioneering acts of the Gothenburg metal scene, which also includes bands such as In Flames and At the Gates. Dark Tranquillity is regarded as the Gothenburg fathers in the film entitled Out of Nothing: A DT Documentary released by Century Media, which was filmed in their home town in April 2009.
Omnium Gatherum is a six-piece melodic death metal band from Finland, founded in the autumn of 1996. Although the band mainly follows the path of the melodic death metal genre, much of their work shows strong influences from progressive metal, especially their later albums.

Kasperi Heikkinen is a Finnish musician who is best known as a member of symphonic power metal band Amberian Dawn. He played in the band from early 2007 until late 2012. He is also the guitarist for Finnish metal bands Merging Flare and Guardians of Mankind, which is a Gamma Ray tribute band. Heikkinen performed with German metal band U.D.O. from 2013 until 2017. He currently resides in Helsinki, Finland.

Seven Spires is an American symphonic metal band established in 2013 in Boston. The band was founded by guitarist Jack Kosto and vocalist Adrienne Cowan, who are the main songwriters. Seven Spires debuted a year later with EP The Cabaret of Dreams. Since this debut, and with the permanent lineup additions of bassist Peter de Reyna and drummer Chris Dovas, the band has released 3 studio albums. The first album, Solveig, was produced independently. Afterwards, Seven Spires signed on with Frontiers Music, releasing 2 additional studio albums each with multiple music videos produced by EmVision Productions and released by Frontiers Music.
Origin is the ninth full-length studio album of Finnish melodic death metal band Omnium Gatherum. It was released on 5 November 2021 via Century Media Records. The band toured for the album in February and March 2022 in North America, supported by Allegaeon and Black Crown Initiate, and from September to November 2022 in Europe, as special guests in the Veleno Across Europe Tour by Fleshgod Apocalypse.

The album was announced on 8 March 2022 and made available for pre-order on 22 March. It marked the first studio release where all band members are playing together live since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. As with previous releases, the album features music of numerous genres, including psychedelia, progressive rock, heavy metal and synth-pop, as well as the band's first experiments with hip hop. It received generally positive reviews, although critics were divided on its length and consistency.

Over 18 minutes in length, the song was first composed during studio sessions for Fishing for Fishies and re-recorded with all band members present following a period of remote collaboration during COVID-19 lockdowns.
