The Kingdom and the Beauty is a 1959 Hong Kong musical-drama film directed by Li Han-hsiang. The film was set in Imperial China, directed by a Hong Kong based-Mainland Chinese director and produced by the famed Hong Kong Shaw Brothers film studio. Although there was minimal Singaporean input in the film-making, the film was selected as the Singaporean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 32nd Academy Awards, but was not nominated.

Eight Thousand Li of Cloud and Moon is a Taiwanese television series based on the life of Yue Fei, a Song dynasty general widely regarded as a patriot and national hero in Chinese culture for his role in the Jurchen campaigns against the Song dynasty. The Chinese title of the series comes from a line in Man Jiang Hong, a patriotic poem commonly attributed to Yue Fei. The series was first aired on CTS in Taiwan from 21 November 1988 to 13 January 1989.

Eight Hundred Heroes is a 1976 Taiwanese historical war drama film directed by Ting Shan-hsi about the Defense of Sihang Warehouse in 1937 Shanghai, China. The film was selected as the Taiwanese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 49th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.

<i>If I Were for Real</i> (film) 1981 film

If I Were for Real is a 1981 Taiwanese drama film directed by Wang Toon. It is an adaptation of the 1979 play of the same name by Sha Yexin, Li Shoucheng and Yao Mingde, set in mainland China. The film made some changes to the story to turn "the satirical comedy into political propaganda which condemns Chinese communism". The film was banned not only in mainland China, but also in British Hong Kong until 1989.

Old Mo's Second Spring is a 1984 Taiwanese drama film directed by You-ning Lee. The film was selected as the Taiwanese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 57th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. It won the Golden Horse Award for Best Feature Film in 1984.

The Love Eterne is a 1963 Hong Kong musical film of the Huangmei opera genre directed by Li Han Hsiang. An adaptation of the classic Chinese story "Butterfly Lovers", it tells of the doomed romance between the male Liang Shanbo and the cross-dressed female Zhu Yingtai.

<i>Port of Call</i> (2015 film) 2015 Hong Kong film

Port of Call is a 2015 Hong Kong crime thriller film written, edited and directed by Philip Yung and starring Aaron Kwok as a veteran police detective who solving a murder mystery with unusual methods to prove his belief of virtue in human nature. The film is based on a real murder case where a dismembered corpse of a murdered 16-year-old female prostitute was found in Hong Kong in 2008. Port of Call was the closing film at the 39th Hong Kong International Film Festival on 6 April 2015. The film was theatrically released in Hong Kong on 3 December 2015. Port of Call won seven awards at the 35th Hong Kong Film Awards including acting awards Best Actor for Kwok, Best Actress for Jessie Li, Best Supporting Actress for Elaine Jin, Best Supporting Actor and Best New Performer, both for Michael Ning, as well as Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography, while also nominated for six other awards. The film also won many other awards and nominations at the Golden Horse Awards, Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards and Asian Film Awards. It was selected as the Hong Kong entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards but it was not nominated.

The Heroic Pioneers is a 1986 Taiwanese drama film directed by Li Hsing. The film was selected as the Taiwanese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 59th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.

Secret Love for the Peach Blossom Spring is a 1992 Taiwanese comedy film written and directed by Stan Lai based on the play Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land. The film was selected as the Taiwanese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 65th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.

Huang Tsung-hsing was a Chinese Hong Kong actor. He appeared in two films with superstar Bruce Lee such as Fist of Fury as Cook Tien and The Way of The Dragon as Uncle Wang. Huang married actress Lisa Chiao Chiao. Huang also acted with fighting instructor Han Ying-chieh in Fist of Fury. Huang also acted in 70 other movies, many of them about martial arts.

The Rain of Sorrow is a 1965 Taiwanese film directed by Wang Yin, based on Chiung Yao's 1964 novel Fire and Rain. The film stars Wang Yin himself, as well as 21-year-old Gua Ah-leh in her acting debut.

<i>The Falls</i> (2021 film) 2021 Taiwanese film

The Falls is a 2021 Taiwanese drama film directed and written by Chung Mong-hong and starring Alyssa Chia and Gingle Wang. The film is scheduled to have its world premiere in the Horizons section at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. It was selected as the Taiwanese entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards. The film won 4 awards and was nominated for 11 at the 58th Golden Horse Awards. It is exclusively available in more than 190 countries and regions on Netflix on January 29, 2022.
