Life of Agony is an American alternative metal band from Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 1989 by singer Mina Caputo, bassist Alan Robert and guitarist Joey Z. The band has released six studio albums to date, most notably their 1993 debut River Runs Red, named by Rolling Stone as one of the Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.
River Runs Red is the debut studio album by American alternative metal band Life of Agony, released on October 12, 1993, by Roadrunner Records. It is a concept album, telling the story of a teenager, from a troubled household, who ultimately attempts suicide. The album features what Rolling Stone called "bleak odes to misanthropy, parental neglect, regret and killing yourself".
Ugly is the second album released by American alternative metal band Life of Agony. The band incorporates a more melodic and less heavy alternative metal sound compared to the heavier, New York hardcore-influenced sound heard on their 1993 debut, River Runs Red. Ugly still features the band's trademark heavy riffing ; however, elements such as "gang" backing vocals and double-bass drumming have been replaced by slower, more melodic moments and even acoustic guitar. Lead singer Mina Caputo opted for a more natural vocal delivery, eschewing the baritone howls heard on the previous record.
Broken Valley is the fourth studio album by American alternative metal band Life of Agony, released on June 14, 2005 by Epic Records, and in the UK on October 17, 2005. It is the band's first album in eight years, following 1997's Soul Searching Sun, and first with the band's classic, original line-up since Ugly in 1995. Epic Records elected not to issue Broken Valley in the United Kingdom upon release. However, the album was eventually released in the UK on October 17, 2005 through Sony BMG Music Entertainment under exclusive UK license to Hassle Records. The Hassle Records' limited edition included a special, bonus DVD along with a previously unreleased, bonus track from the Broken Valley recording sessions.

It is the band's first album in almost 13 years following the release of I've Failed You (2011), in between which time they were largely on an indefinite hiatus due to rising costs associated with touring and making music, a lack of public interest, and the death of bassist Trish Doan in 2017. After receiving several offers to play shows in late 2021, Kittie ended their hiatus in January 2022, with bassist Ivy Vujic returning to their lineup after a decade-long absence. Following their performances at the When We Were Young festival in October 2022, the band were signed to Sumerian and began working on new material.
Cometh the Storm is the ninth studio album by American heavy metal band High on Fire, released on April 19, 2024, through MNRK Heavy. It marks their first album with Coady Willis of Big Business & The Melvins on drums since the departure of co-founder Des Kensel in July 2019. It follows a five-year gap from Electric Messiah and mixes the band's previous sludge metal and stoner metal genres with Turkish folk music and Middle Eastern music. It has received positive reviews from critics.
