Nu metal is a subgenre of alternative metal that combines elements of heavy metal music with elements of other music genres such as hip hop, funk, industrial, and grunge. Nu metal rarely features guitar solos or other displays of musical technique, and emphasizes rhythm with instrumentation that is heavily syncopated. Nu metal guitarists typically use seven-string guitars that are down-tuned to produce a heavier sound. Vocal styles are often rhythmic and influenced by hip hop, and include singing, rapping, screaming and sometimes growling. DJs are occasionally featured to provide instrumentation such as sampling, turntable scratching and electronic background music. Nu metal is one of the key genres of the new wave of American heavy metal.
White Pony is the third studio album by the American alternative metal band Deftones, released on June 20, 2000, through Maverick Records. It was produced by Terry Date, who produced the band's first two albums, Adrenaline (1995) and Around the Fur (1997). Recording sessions took place between August and December 1999 at Larrabee Sound Studios in West Hollywood and The Plant Recording Studios in Sausalito, California.
Gyroscope are an Australian rock band from Perth, which formed in 1997 as Gyroscope Sunday. The members are Daniel Sanders as lead vocalist and on guitar, Zoran Trivic on guitar and backing vocals, Brad Campbell on bass guitar and backing vocals and Rob Nassif on drums. As of 2014 the group has released four studio albums on major labels.
Petra is an American music group regarded as a pioneer of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres and was, for many years, regarded as the "world's most popular Christian rock band". Formed in 1972, the band took its name from the Greek word for "rock". Though it disbanded formally in 2006, incarnations have played reunion shows in the years since and released two albums in November 2010, and in November 2017. In 2013, it reformed with a new drummer, Cristian Borneo, and recorded a new song titled "Holy is Your Name", before going back on tour.
Significant Other is the second studio album by American nu metal band Limp Bizkit. It was released on June 22, 1999, through Flip and Interscope Records. It saw the band expand their sound from that of their 1997 debut Three Dollar Bill, Y'all to incorporate further metal and hip hop influences, but with a more melodic and less hardcore punk-influenced sound.
Jekyll & Hyde is the twentieth studio album released by Christian rock band Petra. It was released in 2003 by Inpop Records. It is the most recent studio album released by Petra to date. The music features a progressive metal sound that drew comparison to Dio and Queensrÿche.
Karnivool is an Australian progressive metal band formed in Perth, Western Australia in 1998. The group currently consists of Ian Kenny on vocals, Drew Goddard and Mark Hosking on guitar, Jon Stockman on bass, and Steve Judd on drums. Karnivool emerged from a band Kenny and Goddard formed during high school. They have released three studio albums to date, the most recent of which (Asymmetry) was released in 2013.
Persona is an EP released by the Australian rock band Karnivool. The disc was originally released on 1 March 2001 via Sic Squared Records, selling 2,000 copies. It was re-released on the band's own label on 12 December 2005 via MGM Distribution, whilst the band were touring for their album Themata. The re-release reaching #1 on the AIR Charts Top 20 Singles chart. The re-release featured a different inkblot cover. In 2006, the EP was nominated for 'Best Performing Single/EP' at the inaugural Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) Awards. The EP was subsequently released in the United States on 24 April 2007.

The songs were recorded in July 2005 at Sing Sing Studios in Melbourne and they were produced by Forrester Savell. All three tracks were written by the four band members: Adam Spark, Ian Kenny, Anthony Jackson and Adam Weston.
"Hold Your Colour" is a song by Australian drum and bass band Pendulum, released as the fifth single from their debut album Hold Your Colour, and their eighth single overall. It was released as a double A-side by Breakbeat Kaos on 6 March 2006 in the UK. The single features two tracks from the album – a remix of "Hold Your Colour" and "Streamline". The song "Hold Your Colour" features guest guitarist Andrew Goddard and bassist Jon Stockman of Perth band Karnivool. The Bipolar mix of "Hold Your Colour" was featured on the soundtrack of FIFA Street 2. According to Rob Swire, the intro vocal sample in "Hold Your Colour" was taken from a track by Rob, Pendulum member Gareth McGrillen and ShockOne's old band Xygen. The track was titled "Lycaeum". Some lyrics from "Lycaeum" were used in Hold Your Colour.

Suicide Silence is the fifth studio album by American deathcore band Suicide Silence, released on February 24, 2017 by Nuclear Blast. The album is a notable departure from their deathcore signature musical style, pursuing a more 1990s influenced nu metal sound. Critical reviews were mixed, while fan response was generally negative. It is also the last to feature Alex Lopez on drums before his departure from the band in April 2022.
Richard William "DW" Norton, is a Scottish-born Australian entertainer, songwriter, producer, guitarist and founding mainstay of metallers, Superheist. In 1998 he established Faultline Records – he has worked as the label's in house producer and CEO. He lives with his wife and fellow artist, London Gabraelle-Norton.
