Therku Theru Machan is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Manivannan. The film stars Sathyaraj and Bhanupriya. It was released on 13 April 1992, [1] and completed a 100-day run. [2]
Valayapalam village's Landlord Paramasiva Gounder has two sons: Subramani and Ganesan. Ganesan, the elder one, gets married with Segamalam, daughter of village President and Landlord "School Gounder" from neighbouring Kittampalayam. In the meantime, Subramani and Sengamalam's sister Parimala fall in love with each other, though they are from different villages.
Devaraj, landlord and owner of a gambling club in Kittampalayam, wants to marry Parimala and she is his maternal cousin. But she refuses and ridicules him. So Devaraj decides to take revenge. Ganesan is a gambler and he even landed his family's bungalow to Devaraj. Devaraj tries to sell the house using court and the auction begins. At the same time, Subramani goes to local bank to receive the loan amount to settle the debt; but he sees Parimala getting same amount by pledging her jewels. She gives the amount to Subramani and Subramani settles the amount to the Officers before the third bells of auction, foiling the plans of Devaraj. Devaraj wants to absolutely split the lovers. Then, Devaraj and his cousin Nagaraj create a water dispute between the two villages, and kills 4 newly married youngesters from his own village, at night. This causes heavy riots and it leads the government to separate both villages. Ganesan sends Sengamalam back to her village as revenge. The State appoints a retd Judge Subramanian Iyer to enquire about the riot and provide a solution.
Subramani approaches the Judge with a plan, and with permission comes with an old man disguise to Kittampalayam as the Judge Iyer, with his cousin as helper Mani. Subramani unites Sengamalam and Ganesan, and earns the trust of the people. He starts to investigate the root of the issue: Devaraj had given huge loans to villagers of Valayapalam, who had pledged their lands to him. If the dispute continues, Valayapalayam's harvest will be totally spoiled, and thus Devaraj will get hold of those lands quickly. At the same time, Devaraj pesters his uncle to get Parimalam married to him. Out of options, School gounder organises an open wrestling tournament, where anyone who wants to marry parimalam must compete and the last man standing, wins her. Devaraj defeats all other competition, and out of options, Subramani, in Iyer disguise fights him off. Subramani wins the competition, and marries Parimalam, to the anguish of everyone present. That night, he reveals to her that he is her lover, and they consummate their marriage.
Subramani's drama is exposed within weeks, and he escapes with Parimalam and Mani. The couple is denied entry to his village as Subramani had married one from the opposite village, and he moves to a hilltop house owned by Mani. Parimalam gets pregnant, and the issue between village remains unsolved. Subramani devises a plan and Mani, with permission from Police, takes interview of Nagaraj in his fields. Subramani then dubs over nagaraj's voice and makes it look like Nagaraj is planning to betray Devaraj. Angered, Devaraj sends men to kill nagaraj. Nagaraj, fearing for life, is captured by Subramani. He is brought to the Police, and the truth about riots comes to public knowledge. Devaraj, in a fit of anger, tries to kill the pregnant Parimalam, but Subramani defeats him and he is arrested. The real Judge Manivannan ends the riots and the separation between two villages, water is released and peace resumes.
The soundtrack was composed by Deva, with lyrics written by Kalidasan. [3] [4]

N. Krishnaswamy of The Indian Express called it "more or less okay entertainer". [5] Sridharan of Kalki gave the film a more negative review, but was tolerating of the music. [6]
Prabhu Ganesan, known professionally as Prabhu, is an Indian actor, businessman and film producer who predominantly works in Tamil cinema. He is the son of veteran actor Sivaji Ganesan. Prabhu was one of the leading actors in Tamil cinema in the later 1980s and 90s. He is popularly known as Ilaya Thilagam. He has worked in more than 220 films in lead and supporting roles in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films.

He was a notable lead actor in the 1960s and 70s, who was credited onscreen with title of Makkal Kalaingnar or Makkal Thamizhan in most of the films starring him. He was also referred to as Thennakathu James Bond because of his roles in films such as Vallavan Oruvan and CID Shankar.
Ethiri (transl. Enemy) is a 2004 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film directed by K. S. Ravikumar. The film starred Madhavan, Sadha, Vivek, Kanika, Rahman and Delhi Ganesh in pivotal roles, and had a musical score composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. It was released on 23 April 2004 to mixed reviews from critics. In 2007, the film went on to be remade in Telugu as State Rowdy starring Sivaji, Mallika Kapoor and Madhu Shalini.
S.S. Manivannan, better known by his mononym Manivannan, was an Indian film director, actor and activist who worked mainly in Tamil cinema and also worked in a few Telugu & Malayalam films. In a career spanning three decades, he went from being a story and dialogue writer for director Bharathiraja from 1980–82 to a successful director who thrived in experimenting with different genres, before becoming an actor. With over 400 films to his name, Manivannan was one of the most experienced actors in the field and directed exactly 50 films. Manivannan was mainly a supporting actor in films and often played the comedian, supporting character and villainous roles.

Chinna Gounder is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by R. V. Udayakumar, starring Vijayakanth, Sukanya, Manorama, Salim Ghouse, Sathyapriya, Goundamani, Senthil and Vadivelu. It was released on 15 January 1992, during Pongal. The film was remade in Telugu as Chinarayudu, and in Kannada as Chikkejamanru.
Cheran Pandian is a 1991 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written and directed by K. S. Ravikumar, from a story by Erode Soundar. The film stars Vijayakumar, Sarathkumar, Anand Babu and Sreeja. It was released on 31 May 1991, emerged a box office success and won several Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. The film was remade in Telugu as Balarama Krishnulu (1992), and in Hindi in as Sautela (1999).
Amaidhi Padai is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language political thriller film, written and directed by Manivannan. Sathyaraj played a dual role as father and son in the film, with Ranjitha playing the female lead. The story revolves around an ordinary man Amavasai who builds his political career through shortcuts and unethical means, while his son grows up to be an honest law enforcer. The film was followed by the sequel Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA in 2013, with Sathyaraj returning as Amavasai. It went on to run more than 25 weeks and was declared a blockbuster. This film is touted as one of Sathyaraj's best performances and over years has developed a strong cult following.
Chinna Thambi Periya Thambi is a 1987 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film, directed by Manivannan. The film stars Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Nadhiya and Sudha Chandran. It was released on 27 February 1987. The film was remade in Telugu as Chinnodu Peddodu and in Kannada as Ramanna Shamanna.
Kallazhagar is a 1999 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by Bharathi, starring Vijayakanth and Laila. Nassar, Sonu Sood and Manivannan play other supporting roles, while Deva composed the score and soundtrack for the film. It was released on 6 February 1999. This is the Tamil debut of Laila and Sood.
Ennamma Kannu is a 2000 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by Sakthi Chidambaram, starring Sathyaraj, Devayani, Ranjith and Vadivelu. The film's musical score was by Deva and was released in 2000. The name of the film was inspired by the song of the same name from Mr. Bharath, which also starred Sathyaraj. The film was remade in Telugu as Ramma Chilakamma in 2001.
Pudhu Manithan is a 1991 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by Manivannan. The film stars Sathyaraj and Bhanupriya, with Sarathkumar as the antagonist. It was released on 22 March 1991 and became a box office hit.
Jallikattu (transl. Bull-vaulting) is a 1987 Indian Tamil-language vigilante film directed by Manivannan. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Sathyaraj and Radha. Produced by Chitra Ramu and Chitra Lakshmanan, it was released on 28 August 1987. The title of the film is a reference to the traditional Tamil sport of the same name.
Theertha Karaiyinile is a 1987 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Manivannan. The film stars Mohan and Rupini. It was released on 11 September 1987. The film was remade in Telugu as Varasudochadu (1988).
Sathyaraj is an Indian actor and media personality who has predominantly appeared in Tamil cinema. He started his career playing villains, supporting roles and character roles. Later, he played the lead in the films Rasigan Oru Rasigai (1986) and Kadalora Kavithaigal (1986). He also acted as Thanthai Periyar in the Tamil Nadu government-sponsored film Periyar (2007). He was also the director of the film Villadhi Villain (1995), starring himself in three different roles.
