Tim Pierce (born 1958 in Albuquerque) is an American session guitarist. He has worked for artists such as Joe Cocker, Crowded House, [1] Goo Goo Dolls, [1] Michael Jackson, [1] Beth Hart, [2] Roger Waters, [3] Alice Cooper, [4] Johnny Hallyday, [5] Phil Collins, [6] and the Cheetah Girls. [7]

Pierce's parents were not musicians, although, unbeknownst to Pierce, his father used to play the trumpet in his youth. [1] He first tasted mainstream success in the early 1980s, when he began recording with Rick Springfield, who was enjoying success with his hit "Jessie's Girl". In addition to playing on the studio recordings that followed, he also joined Springfield's touring band throughout the 1980s [8] and appears in several of Springfield's music videos from the era. Pierce and his wife Patty have been married since 1984, and live in Los Angeles, California. Patty's son Nigel Lundemo is Tim's partner in his educational membership business for guitarists, called the "Masterclass". [9]

He has played on many hit songs including contributing second-guitar parts on Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over", [1] mandolins and slide guitar on Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris", [1] a rhythm guitar part during the bridge of Michael Jackson's "Black or White", which was inspired by the work of Mötley Crüe, [1] and almost all guitar parts on the original recording of "Runaway" by Bon Jovi. [10]

In 1995, Pierce released a solo album, Guitarland, on PRA Records. [11]

In the 2010s, Pierce started a YouTube channel, on which he offers guitar tips from his years in the music industry. [12]

Burning Bridges is the thirteenth studio album by American rock band Bon Jovi consisting of new songs, as well as formerly unreleased and unfinished songs. Released on August 21, 2015 by Mercury Records. Produced by John Shanks, it was the first release since the departure of former guitarist Richie Sambora in 2013, with Shanks handling the lead guitar parts. Burning Bridges is their last album to be released through Mercury, marking the end of their 32-year relationship with the label. According to Jon Bon Jovi, the album serves as a "fan record" to tie in with an accompanying international tour: "It's songs that weren't finished, that were finished, a couple of new ones like the one we released as a single 'We Don't Run'."
