Tim Young (born 11 August 1956) is an Australian former Olympic representative rower. He was twice an Australian national champion, represented twice at World Championships and competed in the men's eight event at the 1980 Summer Olympics. [1]
Young's senior club rowing was from the Monash University Rowing Club. [2] In 1978 he stroked the Monash senior VIII which won the men's eight championship at that year's Australian University Rowing Championships. [3]
State representative honours first came for Young in 1974 when was selected to represent Victoria as the men's youth eight contesting the Noel Wilkinson Trophy at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. That crew placed third. [4] In 1976 Young moved into the Victorian men's senior eight which contested the King's Cup at the annual Interstate Regatta. [2] He made three King's Cup appearances for Victoria between 1976 and 1980 and saw victories in 1979 and 1980. [2]
Young made his Australian representative debut in 1978 when selected in a coxless four to race at the 1978 World Rowing Championships on Lake Karapiro. That crew finished in ninth place. [5] For the 1979 World Rowing Championships in Bled, the strong Victorian showing in that year's King's Cup saw Young amongst a number of Victorians selected into the Australian men's eight. An injury during the campaign to Rob Lang resulted in the squad's selected sculler Ted Hale stepping into the five seat of the eight. That crew placed third in their semi-final and fourth in the final. [6]
For the 1980 Moscow Olympics the new Australian Director of Coaching Reinhold Batschi utilised small boating racing criteria and selected an eight with rowers from three states including Young in the seven seat. The Australian eight finished in fifth place in the Olympic final. [2] It was Young's last Australian representative appearance.
Young married fellow 1980 Australian rowing Olympian Anne Chirnside. [2]
David Hebbert Boykett OAM was an Australian representative rower and rowing coach. He was a six-time national champion, won a bronze medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics and competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics and at the 1962 and 1966 World Rowing Championships.
James Guthrie Howden was an Australian representative rower who won a bronze medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics and represented at the 1962 World Rowing Championships.

Vaughan Bollen is an Australian former lightweight rower. He is from a prominent South Australian rowing family, was a seven-time Australian national champion and won a bronze medal at the 1978 World Rowing Championships. He competed over an eighteen-year period in events at the annual Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships firstly as a South Australian King's Cup coxswain from 1961, then as a South Australian Presidents Cup rower from 1967 and finally till 1979, as a Victorian state representative President's Cup rower.
Berry Haworth Durston was an Australian representative rower and an accomplished rowing administrator and racing official. He competed in the men's eight event at the 1960 Summer Olympics.
Robert Lachal is an Australian former representative rower. He was a national champion in 1964 and that year competed in the men's eight event at the 1964 Summer Olympics.
Graeme McCall was an Australian representative rower. He was a three-time national champion, a 1962 Commonwealth Games gold medallist and competed in the men's eight event at the 1964 Summer Olympics.

He was a representative at three world championships and at the 1976 Montreal and the 1980 Moscow Olympics. In a twenty-three year coaching career, he held national head coaching roles in both Canada and Australia from 1993 to 2008 and personally coached national crews to twelve world championship or Olympic medals.
