Saint Joseph's University is a private Jesuit university in Philadelphia and Lower Merion,Pennsylvania. The university was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1851 as Saint Joseph's College. Saint Joseph's is the seventh oldest Jesuit university in the United States and the fourth largest university in Philadelphia. It is named after Saint Joseph.

In 2015 the university enrolled 8,393 graduate and undergraduate students on a 140-acre (57 ha) campus just outside Omaha's downtown business district. It is classified among "R2:Doctoral Universities –High research activity".
Creighton Preparatory School is a private,Jesuit high school for boys in Omaha,Nebraska,United States. It was established in 1878 under the name Creighton College and is located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Omaha. Creighton College was founded by John A. Creighton and named after Edward Creighton,developer of the transcontinental telegraph line. It was founded from a $100,000 grant and donated to the Catholic Church,leading to its inception as a Jesuit institution. Creighton College separated into Creighton University and Creighton Preparatory School in 1958. Over the 142 years since its founding,Creighton Prep has grown from an initial class of 120 students to a student body of 1021 individuals (2016).
Scott R. Pilarz was an American Jesuit priest and academic. He served two stints as president of the University of Scranton,first from 2003 to 2011 and again from 2018 until 2021. Pilarz was announced as the successor of Kevin Quinn on March 21,2017,serving until his death in 2021. Prior to returning to Scranton,Pilarz served as the president of Marquette University and Georgetown Prep.
Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy is a hospital located in Central Omaha,Nebraska in the United States. On April 24,2012,CUMC signed an agreement to be part of the Alegent Health System during the summer of 2012. The CUMC-Saint Joseph Hospital closed June 9,2017 while simultaneously the academic medical center and trauma services opened at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center –Bergan Mercy. The building has been remodeled into apartments by NuStyle Development,and opened in June 2018. The apartment complex is now called "The Atlas".
The Saint Joseph's Hawks are the athletic teams that represent Saint Joseph's University of Philadelphia,Pennsylvania. The Hawks compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference and of the Philadelphia Big 5. The school also has intramurals and extramurals,the latter of which compete with the City 6. The school is mostly known for its men's basketball team. The Hawk became the school's mascot in 1929. It first flapped its wings at a basketball game in 1956 in a win over La Salle University. The Saint Joseph's school colors are crimson and gray.

The City 6 is an informal association of college athletic programs in the Philadelphia area. It is an intra-city intramural competition,but it is also used as a colloquial term to describe all the NCAA Division I schools in the Philadelphia area.
John P. Schlegel,S.J. was the 23rd President of Creighton University from 2000 to 2011. He formerly served as 26th President of the University of San Francisco from 1991 until 2000.
John Patrick Raynor was a Catholic priest of the Jesuit order and the twentieth president of Marquette University in Milwaukee,Wisconsin. Raynor managed Marquette University from 1965 to 1990,which is the longest tenure of any president in Marquette's history. During Raynor's tenure,the university added several graduate and professional programs,including doctoral programs in biology,chemistry,English,history,mathematics and engineering.
John W. Smithson is an American college administrator who has served as the interim President of Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania,from May 18,2011,until June 30,2012. He is the first president of Saint Joseph's University who is not a member of the Jesuits.
C. Kevin Gillespie S.J. was the 27th president of Saint Joseph's University,from July 1,2012 to 2015. He replaced former president Timothy R. Lannon. Gillespie graduated from St. Joe's in 1972 and is native to the Philadelphia area.
Joseph F. Rigge,S.J. was the first president of Marquette College in Milwaukee,Wisconsin.
Daniel S. Hendrickson is the 25th president of Creighton University starting on July 1,2015,until the present. He was previously the Associate Provost for Academic Initiatives at Marquette University.
