Anthony Degrate (born April 25, 1962) is a former American college and professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for a single season in 1985. He played college football for the University of Texas, and was recognized as a consensus All-American. He was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1985 NFL Draft, and played professionally for the NFL's Green Bay Packers.
Degrate was born in Snyder, Texas. [1] He attended Snyder High School, [2] and played high school football for the Snyder Tigers.
He received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where he played for coach Fred Akers' Texas Longhorns football team from 1981 to 1984. [3] He was a first-team All-Southwest Conference (SWC) selection in 1983 and 1984, and was a key member of the 1983 Longhorns team that won the SWC championship and finished 11–1. [3] As a senior team captain in 1984, he led the team in tackles and quarterback sacks, was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American, and won the Lombardi Award honoring the best lineman in college football. The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Degrate in the fifth round of the 1985 NFL Draft. [5] He played in a single professional game for the Green Bay Packers during the 1985 season. [6]
Sam Adams is an American former professional football player who was a defensive tackle for 14 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Texas A&M Aggies, earning consensus All-American honors, and was selected eighth overall by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1994 NFL Draft. Following six seasons as a member of the Seahawks, he earned consecutive Pro Bowl selections and All-Pro honors during his two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. Adams was also part of the team that won a Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XXXV and made another championship appearance in his one season for the Oakland Raiders in 2002. As a member of the Buffalo Bills from 2003 to 2004, Adams was named to a third Pro Bowl. He spent his last two seasons with Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos.
Jerry Don Gray is an American football coach and former player who is the assistant head coach/defense for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). Gray played college football at the University of Texas at Austin, where he garnered All-American honors. Thereafter, he played professionally for the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Oilers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL.
Cedric Myron Benson was an American professional football player who spent eight years as a running back in the National Football League (NFL), playing in Super Bowl XLI with the Chicago Bears. He played college football for the Texas Longhorns where he won the 2005 Rose Bowl, was recognized as a consensus All-American and was the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2001. He was selected by Chicago with the fourth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft and also played for the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers.
Tony Lynn Brackens, Jr. is an American former professional football player who spent his entire nine-year career as a defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Texas Longhorns, earning consensus All-American honors. A second-round pick in the 1996 NFL Draft, Brackens was named a second-team All-Pro and selected to the Pro Bowl with Jacksonville in 1999.
