Tony Luke Kocherry (born 10 November 1985) is an Indian Film Actor. [1] He began his career as a fashion model and later forayed into cinema, debuting with Oozham (2016) in a supporting role. In 2019, Tony made his Bollywood debut with a supporting role in the crime thriller Badla (2019), starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. [2] [3]


Early life

Tony was born to Thresia Kocherry and Luke Kocherry on 10 November 1985, at Kochi, Kerala in India. He is an IT engineering graduate from the PES University in Bangalore and a post-graduate in International Business Administration (IBA) from Regent's Business School London. He attended The Choice School, Ernakulam where he was active in sports.



He started modelling at the age of 19 in Bangalore while in college. In 2005, he debuted as an international model represented by Major Model Management in Milan, Italy. [4]

In 2014, he played a minor role in an experimental short film named Karma Cartel , which went on to win awards and honors in various film festivals across the globe. [5]

Film acting

He made his film debut in 2016 with the Malayalam film Oozham directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. [6] Tony's performance met with critical acclaim for his portrayal of the 25 year old character Andrew Wilfred-Marcus. After the success of Oozham, Tony played the role of the antagonist in the political thriller Sakhavu (2017) directed by Sidhartha Siva, starring Nivin Pauly in lead. Tony received positive reviews for his portrayal of the sadistic, cruel 40-year-old character of a manager who enslaves workers on the tea estates of pre-independent India. [7]

In 2018, Luke starred in Naam , a campus story, where he played a 22-year-old. [8] In the same year, he went on to appear as a 30-year-old computer hacker in commercial blockbuster Aadhi , directed by Jeethu Joseph, starring Pranav Mohanlal in the lead. [9] [10] [11] In 2019, The actor was seen in Science Fiction Psychological thriller 9 starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and directed by Jenuse Mohammad. [12]

On March 8th 2019, Luke made his Hindi Bollywood debut in a prominent role in the crime thriller Badla directed by Sujoy Ghosh starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. [13] [14] The film went onto gross 100 crores in the Indian domestic Box office. [15] According to acclaimed Film Critic Anna M.M. Vetticad " The handsome model-turned Actor Tony Luke makes his Hindi Debut with Badla and delivers the most impressive performance of the lead trio. He brilliantly lends subtlety even to the most dramatic transformations of his character." [16]

Aadhi is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. The film stars Pranav Mohanlal in the title role and features Siddique, Lena, Jagapati Babu, Aditi Ravi, Anusree, Sharaf U Dheen, Siju Wilson, Meghanathan, Sijoy Varghese, Tony Luke, and Krishna Shankar in supporting roles. Entammede Jimikki Kammal, or simply Jimikki Kammal, is a 2017 song from the soundtrack of the Malayalam film Velipadinte Pusthakam (2017). The song is composed by Shaan Rahman and sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan and Ranjith Unni. Taken from various folk songs, "Jimikki Kammal" is written by Anil Panachooran. <i>Badla</i> (2019 film) 2019 Indian Hindi language film by Sujoy Ghosh

Badla is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language mystery thriller film directed by Sujoy Ghosh and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Tony Luke and Amrita Singh. The film is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Azure Entertainment and is a remake of the 2016 Spanish film The Invisible Guest. The story follows an interview between a lawyer and a businesswoman, in which the latter insists that she is being wrongfully framed for the murder of her lover.

Syamdhar is an Indian film director who works in the Malayalam film industry. Prithviraj starrer 7th Day is his debut movie as a director, which was a crime thriller. In 2017, he made his second movie Pullikkaran Staraa with Mammootty.
