Totu is one of the major suburbs of Shimla city, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. [1] It is under the administration of the Shimla Municipal Corporation. [2]
It is located around 7 km from Shimla Old Bus Stand & lies on NH-88 on Shimla-Mandi highway. [3] The average elevation of the region is 1950m above sea level. The climate is usually cold, summers are moderate with temperature rising up to 31 degree Celsius. Totu receives heavy rains during monsoons and is one of the two places besides Jakhoo, known for being the foggiest places in Shimla during monsoons. It also receives moderate to heavy snowfall in the winter. Totu is divided into five areas namely Market area, Vijaynagar, Shivnagar, Divyanagar and Majiat. [4]
It houses the Jutogh railway station of the Kalka Shimla Railway [5] and is also home to Himachal Pradesh State Co-operative Marketing & Consumers Federation Ltd., a department of the Himachal Pradesh Government. Shimla Airport located at Jubberhatti is approximately 14 km from this place. HP Institute of Management Studies, affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University is also located here. A rapidly growing consumer market that caters for the needs of the locals forms the heart of the town. [6] The Pin code of Totu is 171011.
Totu has four banks; Punjab National Bank, Himachal Pradesh State Co-operative Bank, State Bank of India and recently opened HDFC Bank. ATMs of all four banks have been operational for many years. You can also find newly opened ICICI ATM here. Market has a variety of shops which provide daily household items. A private community hall is also situated in the town. It has two private schools and one government senior secondary school. Besides these urbanizing institutions, it has three main temples; Laxmi Narayan Temple, Shiv Temple and Shiv Shakti Temple near Government School, for religious activities.

Kalka is a town in the Panchkula district of Haryana, India. It is near Panchkula city. The name of the town is derived from the Hindu goddess Kali. Kalka is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas and is a gateway to the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh; it is located on the National Highway 5 between Chandigarh and Shimla, and it is the terminus of the Kalka-Shimla Railway. To the south of Kalka is Pinjore, and the industrial village of Parwanoo is to the north on NH 22. Railways and Industrial development have led to a continuous urban belt from Pinjore to Parwanoo, but Kalka gained major economic benefits due to being the only highway destination until 2010 from Shimla. It is the tehsil of 253 nearby sub-villages. Nearby is Chandimandir Cantonment, where the Western Command of the Indian army is based. In 2013, the municipal committee of Kalka was dissolved and the administration was reassigned to Panchkula Municipal Corporation.

Parwanoo or Parwanu is a municipal council in Solan district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is an industrial town. It has Himachal's biggest wholesale market. First in 3rd-category of Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan award 2023. It borders Panchkula district of Haryana, and is after the towns of Pinjore and Kalka on the Chandigarh Simla Highway. In fact it is separated by a river bed from the town of Kalka. Pinjore to Parwanoo is almost a continuous urban belt. From Pinjore there is also a road to Baddi, another nearby industrial town of Himachal.
Himachal Pradesh, although railways and airways serve very limited transport needs, the road network of the state serves the transport needs of the people. Although, the geography of Himachal presents considerable challenge to the development of transport infrastructure, it has the highest road density among all the Hill States of India. Himachal also has 3 airports, 2 narrow gauge rail tracks and couple of other under-construction broad gauge railway tracks, but roads remain the main mode of transport.
Sarahan is a small town in Himachal Pradesh of India. It is the site of the Bhimakali Temple, originally known as Bhimadevi Temple, dedicated to the mother goddess Bhimakali, presiding deity of the rulers of the former Bushahr State. The temple is situated about 170 kilometres from Shimla and is one of 51 Shakti Peethas. The town is known as the "gateway of Kinnaur" it being near the old Indo-Tibetan Road. Seven kilometers below Sarahan is the river Satluj. Sarahan is identified with the Shonitpur mentioned in Puranas. Sarahan Bushahr has been the summer capital of Bushahr kingdom, with Rampur Bushahr considered the winter capital. The former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shree Virbhadra Singh is a member of royal family and is popularly known as "Raja Sahab" at Sarahann. He has been member of the Assembly/Parliament since 1962 and has held the post of Chief Minister six times. His wife Rani Pratibha Devi is also a member of Assembly.
