The Toyota HD is a series of Diesel engines produced by Toyota.
The 1HD-T is a 12 valve 4.2 L (4,164 cc) straight-6 SOHC turbocharged direct injection diesel engine . [1] Bore and stroke is 94 mm × 100 mm (3.70 in × 3.94 in), with a compression ratio of 18.6:1. Output is 164 hp (122 kW; 166 PS) at 3,600 rpm with 361 N⋅m (266 lb⋅ft) of torque at 1,400 rpm. [ clarification needed ]
The 1HD-FT is a 4.2 L (4,164 cc) straight-6 24 valve SOHC turbocharged direct injection diesel engine . Bore and stroke is 94 mm × 100 mm (3.70 in × 3.94 in), with a compression ratio of 18.6:1. Known as the "multivalve" it has 4 valves per cylinder (2 inlet, 2 exhaust), central vertically mounted injector, and no glow plugs but rather an intake glow screen heater (like the later electronic 1HD-FTE below). The 4 valves per cylinder are actuated by the SOHC, by using bridges so each rocker actuates a pair of valves. Output is 168 hp (125 kW; 170 PS) ECE at 3,600 rpm with 380 N⋅m (280 lb⋅ft) of torque ECE at 2,500 rpm. However, marinized version of 1HD (sold as Yamaha ME and Yanmar 6LP) have an output of 315 hp (235 kW; 319 PS) on Yanmar 6LP and 315 hp (235 kW; 319 PS), 370 hp (276 kW; 375 PS) or 420 hp (313 kW; 426 PS) on Yamaha ME. The 1HD-FTE is a 4.2 L (4,164 cc) straight-6 24 valve turbocharged diesel engine. Bore and stroke is 94 mm × 100 mm (3.70 in × 3.94 in), with a compression ratio of 18.8:1. Output is 167 hp (125 kW; 169 PS) at 3,400 rpm with 380 N⋅m (280 lb⋅ft) of torque at 1,400 rpm. The fuel system is direct injection, and adopts the electronic fuel injection (EFI) system. Redline of this engine is at 4200 rpm.
The 4 valves per cylinder are actuated by the SOHC, by using bridges so each rocker actuates a pair of valves.
The version with intercooler as fitted to HDJ100 station wagons has 202 hp (151 kW; 205 PS) at 3400 rpm with 430 N⋅m (317 lb⋅ft) of torque at 1200-3200 rpm with a redline reaching 4200 rpm. A lower output 122 kW (164 hp; 166 PS) non-intercooled version powers HDJ78 Troop Carrier and HDJ79 Utility versions.
Also some of the HDB50 and HDB51 Coasters are fitted with this 1HD-FTE engine.
Toyota Motor Corporation's M family of engines were a longitudinally mounted straight-6 engine design. They were used from the 1960s through the 1990s. All M family engines were OHC designs. While the M family was born with a chain-driven single camshaft it evolved into a belt-driven DOHC system after 1980. All M family engines used a cast-iron block with an aluminum cylinder head, and were built at the Toyota Kamigo plant in Toyota City, Japan.
The Mitsubishi Astron or 4G5/4D5 engine, is a series of straight-four internal combustion engines first built by Mitsubishi Motors in 1972. Engine displacement ranged from 1.8 to 2.6 litres, making it one of the largest four-cylinder engines of its time.
The 6G7 series or Cyclone V6 engine is a series of V6 piston engines from Mitsubishi Motors. Five displacement variants were produced from 1986 to 2021, with both SOHC and DOHC, naturally aspirated and turbo charged layouts. While MIVEC variable valve timing has also been implemented in some versions the 2.5, 3.0, and 3.5 L versions were also available with gasoline direct injection. This engine has been the flagship powerplant of the company except when they briefly built a V8 in 1999–2001. The staple of their high-end sedans, it was given twin-turbos for the Mitsubishi GTO, and became the most powerful car ever built by the company at the time.
The Toyota VZ engine family is a series of V6 gasoline piston engines ranging from 2.0 to 3.4 L in displacement and both SOHC and DOHC configurations. It was Toyota's first V6 engine, being made as a response to Nissan’s VG engine, one of Japan's first mass-produced V6 engines.
The Toyota R family was a series of inline-four gasoline automobile engines. Designed for longitudinal placement in such vehicles as the Celica and Hilux and in production from 1953 through 1997, usage faded out as many of Toyota's mainstream models moved to front-wheel drive. Overhead cam (OHC) versions featured a chain-driven camshaft.
The Toyota S Series engines are a family of straight-four petrol engines with displacements between 1.8 and 2.2 litres, produced by Toyota Motor Corporation from January 1980 to August 2007. The S series has cast iron engine blocks and aluminium cylinder heads. This engine was designed around the new LASRE technology for lighter weight – such as sintered hollow camshafts.
The Toyota E engine family is a straight-four piston engine series, and uses timing belts rather than chains. The E engines were the first multi-valve engines from Toyota designed with economy, practicality and everyday use in mind. Like many other Toyota engines from the era, the E engine series features a cast iron block, along with an aluminium cylinder head. E engines are lighter than earlier Toyota engines, due to the hollow crankshaft, thinned casting of the cylinder block, and several other reductions in auxiliaries as well as in the engine itself. Carbureted versions include a newly designed, variable-venturi carburetor. All of these changes improved economy and emissions. The members of the E engine family, range from 1.0 L to 1.5 L. The E family supplanted the K engines in most applications. A large number of parts in the E engine series are interchangeable between each other.
The L family is a family of inline four-cylinder diesel engines manufactured by Toyota, which first appeared in October 1977. It is the first diesel engine from Toyota to use a rubber timing belt in conjunction with a SOHC head. Some engines like the 2L-II and the 2L-T are still in production to the present day. As of August 2020, the 5L-E engine is still used in Gibraltar in the fifth-generation Toyota HiAce, eighth-generation Toyota Hilux, second-generation Toyota Fortuner, and fourth-generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Vehicles with the diesel engine were exclusive to Toyota Japan dealership locations called Toyota Diesel Store until that sales channel was disbanded in 1988.
The Toyota KZ is one of Toyota's small passenger diesel engines.
The Toyota UR engine family is a 32-valve dual overhead camshaft V8 piston engine series which was first introduced in 2006, as the UZ series it replaced began phasing out. Production started with the 1UR-FSE engine with D-4S direct injection for the 2007 Lexus LS. The series launched with a die-cast aluminum engine block, aluminum cylinder heads and magnesium cylinder head covers. All UR engines feature variable valve timing for both intake and exhaust cams or Dual VVT-i. Timing chains are used to drive the camshafts. The UR engine has been produced in 4.6, 5.0, and 5.7-liter displacement versions.
The MA is a straight-4 SOHC 0.9 L, 1.0 L, or 1.2 L engine first introduced in 1982 by Nissan, intended primarily for the K10 series Micra/March model. It shares design similarities with the older E engine, with an 8-valve hemispherical cylinder head but differs in that it uses an aluminium cylinder block. Unusually, the specified ignition timing for the MA10 running on the specified 90 RON gasoline was 2 degrees after top dead centre, reflecting a very high flame speed in the compact combustion chambers.
The Toyota ND is an inline-four diesel engine used for Toyota models in various markets including Japanese, Indian and European ones.
The Toyota B engine family was a series of inline-four diesel engines.
The Toyota H engine was first produced in 1967 but did not reach road cars till 1972. It is not a successor to the older and larger Toyota D engine.
The EA827 family of petrol engines was initially developed by Audi under Ludwig Kraus leadership and introduced in 1972 by the B1-series Audi 80, and went on to power many Volkswagen Group models, with later derivatives of the engine still in production into the 2010s. This is a very robust water-cooled engine configuration for four- up to eight- cylinders. In Brazil this engine was produced under the name Volkswagen AP AP.
The Mazda L-series is a mid-sized inline 4-cylinder gasoline piston engine designed by Mazda as part of their MZR family, ranging in displacement from 1.8 to 2.5 liters. Introduced in 2001, it is the evolution of the cast-iron block F-engine. It was co-developed with Ford, who owned a controlling stake in Mazda at the time. Ford uses it as their 1.8 L to 2.5 L Duratec world engine and holds a license to develop engines based on the L-series in perpetuity.
The E0 series is a three-cylinder gasoline engine developed and manufactured by Honda, with a total displacement of 656 cc. The engine is intended for kei car applications. The E05A and E07A were partially replaced by the Honda P engine but as of 2020 the E07Z engine still saw use in the Acty truck.
