The Toyota Hilux Dakar is an off-road competition car based on the Hilux. It has won the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies in 2016, 2017 and 2021, the Dakar Rally in 2019, 2022 and 2023, and the World Rally-Raid Championship in 2022 and 2023.

Since 2016, Toyota Gazoo Racing and its regional subsidiaries field the Toyota GR DKR Hilux model, which is produced by SVR Hallspeed in South Africa; prior to that, the car was mainly used by private installations Imperial and Overdrive Racing. [2] [3] TGR's international rally division introduced an upgraded Hilux, the Toyota GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U, in 2024. [4] Overdrive Racing prepares its own model separate from TGR dubbed the Toyota Hilux Overdrive. A Hilux developed by WCT Engineering, intended to be affordable for privateers, has been raced since 2023. [5]

His five victories in the Dakar Rally make him the only Middle Easterner and West Asian to win the competition more than once.

The Toyota GR Corolla is a compact car manufactured by Japanese marque Toyota since 2022 with assistance from the company's Gazoo Racing (GR) division. It is a hot hatch variant of the E210 series Corolla.

In relation to motorsport, Group T1 is a set of technical specifications for prototype cross-country cars used in off-road Cross-Country Rallying. The group is governed by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and defined in appendix J, article 285 of its International Sporting Code. The cars are single unit builds and may be based on a spaceframe chassis unlike the strict series production bodyshell requirement in Group T2. However, the engine must come from, or be derived from a production car able to be homologated in Group A, Group GT or Group T2. The cars must be powered by one engine and without driving aids such as traction control or ABS.

The 2023 Dakar Rally was a rally raid event held in Saudi Arabia and the 45th edition of the Dakar Rally organized by Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO). The event takes place between 31 December 2022 and 15 January 2023. This is the fourth time Saudi Arabia has hosted the event. For the second year running, the event is also the first round of the 2023 World Rally-Raid Championship.

Seth Quintero is American off-road racing driver. He is currently part of Red Bull's rallying team for rally raid events and competes in the World Rally-Raid Championship.

A baja, or baja rally, is a motorsport event conducted using various types of vehicles. Along with the similar rally raids and marathon rally raids, the three event types are collectively considered as types of cross-country rallies by the international governing body for automobile sport, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).
