Tranquilo Capozzo Zironda (United States, 25 January 1918 Valle Hermoso, Argentina, 14 May 2003) [1] was an Argentine rower and Olympic champion who competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics and in the 1952 Summer Olympics.

Capozzo was born in the United States and died in Valle Hermoso, Córdoba Province, Argentina.

In 1948 he was eliminated in the semi-finals of the single sculls event.

The men's single sculls competition at the 1948 Summer Olympics took place at Henley-on-Thames, London, United Kingdom. The event was held from 5–9 August.

Four years later he won the gold medal in double sculls competition with Eduardo Guerrero. That was for 52 years the last gold medal at Olympics for Argentina until the victories of Soccer and Basketball men teams at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

He also held the record for 5000 m on the rowing machine with a time of 14:58. This made him the first person to go below 15 min for this distance. He holds a black belt in judo. He played rugby union for Waikato.

Nathan Phillip Cohen is a New Zealand rower. He is a two-time world champion, and won a gold medal in the Olympics. In 2006, rowing a single scull, he won a gold medal at the World University Games. In doing so, he became the first New Zealander to win a gold medal at the World University Games in any sport. Cohen and his rowing partner, Joseph Sullivan, won back-to-back gold medals in the men's double sculls at both the 2010 and 2011 World Rowing Championships. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he and his partner won the gold medal in the men's double sculls, after breaking the Olympic best time in the heats. In 2013, Cohen was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to rowing.

The rowing competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place from 6 to 13 August 2016 at the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon in Copacabana. Fourteen medal events were being contested by 547 athletes, 334 men and 213 women.
