Mary Therese Hansen was an Australian-born guitarist and singer. She joined the London-based avant-pop band Stereolab in 1992. As a member, Hansen recorded six studio albums from Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements to Sound-Dust.

Kim Petras is a German singer and songwriter based in Los Angeles. Between 2016 and 2020, she released music as an independent artist under her own imprint, BunHead Records, before signing with Amigo and Republic Records in 2021 where she will release her upcoming third album and major-label debut.
Jenny Anne Durkan is an American attorney, former federal prosecutor, and politician who served as the 56th mayor of Seattle, Washington. She is the daughter of Martin Durkan. Durkan is a member of the Democratic Party. After earning her Juris Doctor from University of Washington School of Law in 1985, Durkan began practicing law as a criminal defense lawyer and civil litigator. In October 2009, President Barack Obama appointed her United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington. She held that position until September 2014.
The Seattle Streetcar is a system of two modern streetcar lines operating in the city of Seattle, Washington. The South Lake Union line opened first in 2007 and was followed by the First Hill line in 2016. The two lines are unconnected, but share similar characteristics: frequent service, station amenities, and vehicles. Streetcars typically arrive every 10–15 minutes most of the day, except late at night. The streetcar lines are owned by the Seattle Department of Transportation and operated by King County Metro.
Kshama Sawant is an Indian-American politician and economist who has served on the Seattle City Council since 2014. She is a member of Socialist Alternative, the first and only member of the party to date to be elected to public office.
The 2017 Seattle mayoral election was held on November 7, 2017. It was won by former U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan, who beat civic activist Cary Moon in the general election by 15 percentage points. The two candidates had advanced from an earlier primary election held in August, which ensured that Seattle would have its first female mayor since Bertha Knight Landes was elected in 1926. Municipal elections are officially nonpartisan though most candidates have declared party affiliations.
Carol Consuela Moon is an American political activist who was part of the campaign to re-open Seattle's waterfront after the replacement of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Moon was a candidate for Mayor of Seattle in the 2017 mayoral election, finishing second in the primary and advancing to face Jenny Durkan. During the general election, she trailed Durkan in preliminary results and conceded.
Olivia Rebecca Devine, known professionally as L Devine, is an English singer and songwriter. After signing with Warner Bros. Records, she released her debut EP Growing Pains (2017). This was followed by the release of two further EPs, Peer Pressure (2018) and Near Life Experience: Part 1 (2021). L Devine is also signed to BMG, having co-written songs for artists including Icona Pop and Rudimental.
Turn Off the Light, Vol. 1 is a mixtape extended play by German singer-songwriter Kim Petras. It was released on 1 October 2018 through her own label, BunHead. Petras began promoting the EP in mid-September, posting heavily edited photos to Instagram of herself, according to Paper, "styled as a sexy dead Victoria's Secret angel/Hades side-chick/goth middle schooler's notebook-doodled fantasy. She later posted to Twitter that she "[couldn't] wait to share" a collaboration with Elvira. Two vinyl LP pressings were released on 20 September 2019: a "pink and white galaxy swirl" vinyl, which is exclusive to Urban Outfitters in the US, and a neon pink pressing which is a general retail release. The songs from this EP were incorporated into the full-length follow-up Turn Off the Light, which was released as her second studio album one year later on 1 October 2019.
Dawn is the second extended play by American musician Mxmtoon. The EP was self-released by the artist on April 22, 2020, with an "edits" EP of alternative takes following on July 24, 2020. It was promoted by the singles "Fever Dream", "Quiet Motions", and "Lessons". Dawn sees Mxmtoon shift from the bedroom pop styles of The Masquerade, into straightforward pop. It is the first of a two-EP project, with the sequel Dusk released later in the year. The EPs were originally going to be promoted through the Dusk & Dawn tour across North America in Summer 2020, though due to the COVID-19 pandemic that did not occur.
Nat Puff, better known by her stage name Left at London, is an American singer-songwriter, producer, comedian, and internet personality from Seattle, Washington. She originally gained fame by posting short comedy sketches on Vine as well as parodies of musicians Frank Ocean, Tyler, the Creator, and Mitski. Since then she has garnered fame as an indie pop musician with several EPs including the Transgender Street Legend trilogy and the song "Revolution Lover". Her debut studio album, T.I.A.P.F.Y.H. was released on June 4, 2021 and her second studio album You Are Not Alone Enough is expected to be released in Fall 2022.

On May 3, 2020, a 28-year-old black transgender woman named Nina Pop was found dead with multiple stab wounds after being stabbed with a knife inside her apartment on South New Madrid Street in Sikeston, Missouri.
The city of Seattle experienced protests over the murder of George Floyd in 2020 and 2021. Beginning on May 29, 2020, demonstrators took to the streets throughout the city for marches and sit-ins, often of a peaceful nature but which also devolved into riots. Participants expressed opposition to systemic racism, police brutality and violence against people of color.
The Capitol Hill Occupied Protest or the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP), originally Free Capitol Hill and later the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), was an occupation protest and self-declared autonomous zone in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. The zone, originally covering six city blocks and Cal Anderson Park, was established on June 8, 2020, by George Floyd protesters after the Seattle Police Department (SPD) left its East Precinct building. The zone was cleared of occupants by police on July 1. Its formation was preceded by a week of tense interactions between protesters and police in riot gear which began on June 1 and escalated on June 7 after a man drove his vehicle into the crowd and shot a protester near 11th Avenue and Pine Street. Tear gas, flashbangs and pepper spray were used by police in the densely populated residential neighborhood. On June 7, the SPD reported that the crowd was throwing rocks, bottles and fireworks and shining green lasers into officers' eyes. The next day, police boarded up their building and moved out of the East Precinct in an effort to de-escalate the situation.
The 2021 Seattle mayoral election was held on November 2, 2021, to elect the Mayor of Seattle. It was won by former Seattle City Council President Bruce Harrell, who defeated then-current President Lorena González; both candidates had advanced from a nonpartisan primary election on August 3.
Adrian Z. Diaz is an American law enforcement officer serving as the interim chief of the Seattle Police Department. Diaz had previously served as deputy chief of the department. Diaz assumed office on September 2, 2020, following the resignation of Carmen Best.
Space Cadet is the fourth extended play (EP) by Filipino-born British singer-songwriter Beabadoobee. The EP was released on 14 October 2019 by independent record label Dirty Hit, and was supported by the singles "She Plays Bass" and "I Wish I Was Stephen Malkmus". All five tracks were executively produced by English musicians Pete Robertson and Joseph Rodgers. The EP was also written entirely by Beabadoobee and features additional guitar from Matthew Healy on the title track.
T.I.A.P.F.Y.H. is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter and producer Left at London. Produced as part of an artist in residency program with City of Shoreline Public Art Program, the album was digitally self-released by the artist on June 4, 2021, with vinyl and cassettes released by Fourth Strike Records in May 2022. The album's title is an acronym for its two title tracks, "There is a Place for You Here" and "This is a Protest for Your Heart!!!" The album's title was announced on March 26, 2021 as t.i.a.p.f.y.h.
