Travers, Missouri

Travers is an unincorporated community in Barry County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] The community is on the west side of Flat Creek just north of the Twin Springs in Corder Hollow. Butterfield is approximately 3.5 miles to the west and Cassville is about five mile upstream (southwest) along Flat Creek. [2] [3]

History

A post office called Traverse was in operation from 1889 until 1894. The name was changed to Travers in 1898, and the post office was discontinued in 1903. [4] The community was named after O.H. Traverse, an Illinois legislator. [5]

Jenkins is an unincorporated community in Barry County, Missouri, United States. It is located on Route 39, just north of Route 248, approximately twelve miles northeast of Cassville. Jenkins Creek flows through the community and its confluence with Flat Creek is just to the south.

Golden is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southeastern Barry County, Missouri, United States. It is approximately 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Cassville. It is located south of Table Rock Lake and one mile north of Missouri Route 86 on Highway J. At the 2020 census, Golden had a population of 275.

Lohmer is an unincorporated community in Barry County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is located on Missouri Route 76, east of Cassville and within the Mark Twain National Forest.

Madry is an unincorporated community in northeast Barry County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is located on Missouri Route 39, approximately 6.5 miles south of Aurora.

McDowell is an unincorporated community in Barry County, in the U.S. state of Missouri.

Jolly is an unincorporated community in eastern Newton County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. A variant name was "Jollification". The community is on Capps Creek approximately eight miles west-southwest of Monett in adjacent Barry County and five miles southwest of Pierce City in southwest Lawrence County.
