Trenten Merrill (born May 18, 1990) is an American Paralympic athlete who specializes in long jump. He represented the United States at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Paralympics. Merrill's right foot was amputated after a dirt bike accident.
Merrill attended Azusa Pacific University where he competed on the school's NCAA Division II track and field team. [1] [2]
Merrill represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the men's long jump T44 event and finished in fourth place with an American Record of 6.84-metres. [3]
He represented the United States at the 2019 Parapan American Games where he won a gold medal in the long jump T63/T64 event. [4]
Merrill represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in the men's long jump T64 event and won a bronze medal. [5]
He competed in the men's long jump T64 event at the 2023 World Para Athletics Championships held in Paris, France. [6]
In March 2005 he and a friend were riding in tandem on a dirt bike when they were involved in a collision with a car, and Merrill's right foot was pinned between the dirt bike and car. He had five surgeries to repair the foot, however, it had to be amputated as blood was no longer circulating in his foot after transmission fluid had spilled into the wound during the accident. [7] [8] When not competing in athletics, he is also a model. [9]
Husam Azzam is a Palestinian para athlete who competes in shot put. He has represented Palestine at five Paralympic Games, in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2016, and 2020.
Evan George O'Hanlon, is an Australian Paralympic athlete, who competes mainly in category T38 sprint events. He has won five gold medals at two Paralympic Games – 2008 Beijing and 2012 London. He also represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, winning a silver medal and a bronze medal respectively. In winning the bronze medal in the Men's 100m T38 at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai, O'Hanlon became Australia's most successful male athlete with a disability. His bronze medal took him to 12 medals in five world championships – one more than four-time Paralympian Neil Fuller.
Marie-Amélie Le Fur she is a French Paralympic athlete from Vendôme, Centre Region, competing in T44 sprint and F44 long jump events. Her left leg was amputated below the knee following a motor scooter accident in 2004. Before she lost her leg, she was a French junior running champion. As of 2023, Le Fur is the President of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee.
Stefanie McLeod Reid is a track and field paralympian who competes for Canada and Great Britain, competing mainly in category T44 long jump and sprint events. A multiple medal winner at European and world level, she won a bronze medal in the 200m at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and silver in the long jump at the 2012 Summer Paralympics.
