Stephen Rodger Waugh is an Australian former international cricketer and twin brother of cricketer Mark Waugh. A right-handed batsman and a medium-pace bowler,Waugh is considered one of the greatest cricketers of all time. As Australian captain from 1997 to 2004,he led Australia to fifteen of their record sixteen consecutive Test wins,and to victory in the 1999 Cricket World Cup. Waugh is considered the most successful Test captain in history with 41 victories and a winning ratio of 72%;he,along with Clive Lloyd and Graeme Smith,are regarded as the greatest captains of all time taking into account both Test and ODI cricket.
Trevor Martin Chappell is a former Australian cricketer,a member of the South Australian Chappell family which excelled at cricket. He played 3 tests and 20 One Day Internationals for Australia. He won the Sheffield Shield with New South Wales twice,and scored a century for Australia against India in the 1983 World Cup. His career was overshadowed,however,by an incident in 1981 in which he bowled an underarm delivery to New Zealand cricketer Brian McKechnie to stop the batsman from hitting a six.

The New Zealand cricket team toured South Africa for cricket matches in the 2005–06 season. Owing to South Africa's busy schedule,the tour was split into two legs,one to be played in October 2005 with the six limited overs matches,and the second leg to be played in April and May 2006,including three Test matches. Before the limited overs series began,New Zealand were ranked third on the ICC ODI Championship table,two places ahead of their hosts South Africa. However,New Zealand had never won an ODI series in South Africa before this tour,and they were not to do it this summer either. In fact,New Zealand did not win a single one of the five matches,and only the rain –which sent the fourth match into a no-result –prevented the Kiwis from going down 0–5. The test series was similarly disappointing for New Zealand,with South Africa claiming it 2-0. After two series losses to Australia it was a satisfying result for the South Africans.
Barry Wood is an English former cricketer,who played 12 Test matches for the England cricket team as an opening batsman,as well as 13 One Day Internationals. He played first-class cricket for Yorkshire in 1964,for Lancashire from 1966 to 1979,and for Derbyshire from 1980 to 1983,where he was the captain for three seasons.
Trevor Leslie Goddard was a Test cricketer. An all-rounder,he played 41 Test matches for South Africa from 1955 to 1970. He captained the young South African team on its five-month tour of Australia and New Zealand in the 1963–64 season,levelling the series with Australia,and was also captain in 1964–65 against England in South Africa.

Peter May captained the English cricket team in Australia in 1958–59,playing as England in the 1958-59 Ashes series against the Australians and as the MCC in their other matches on the tour. It was widely regarded as one of the strongest teams to depart English shores,comparable with the great teams of Johnny Douglas in 1911-12 and Percy Chapman in 1928-29. It had no obvious weaknesses,and yet it was beaten –and beaten badly. By the First Test the top batsmen had made runs,the Surrey trio of Loader,Laker and Lock had taken wickets,as had Lancashire's Brian Statham. South Australia,Victoria and an Australian XI had all been beaten –the last by the crushing margin of 345 runs –and all seemed rosy for Peter May's touring team. But in the Brisbane Test they lost by 8 wickets and the rest of the series failed to offer any hope of reversing their fortunes. The reasons for their failure were manifold;the captain was too defensive;injuries affected their best players;others were too young and inexperienced such as Arthur Milton,Raman Subba Row,Ted Dexter,Roy Swetman and John Mortimore,or at the end of their career;Godfrey Evans,Trevor Bailey,Jim Laker,Willie Watson and Frank Tyson. Their morale was further bruised when faced with bowlers of dubious legality and unsympathetic umpires. Peter May was criticised for seeing his fiancée Virginia Gilligan,who was travelling with her uncle the Test Match commentator Arthur Gilligan. The press blamed the poor performance on the team's heavy drinking,bad behaviour and lack of pride –a foretaste the treatment losing teams would receive in the 1980s. It was not a happy tour by any means and it would take 12 years to recover The Ashes. As E.W. Swanton noted

Neil Trevor Broom AKA Razor(born 20 November 1983) is a New Zealand international cricketer and big Exeter City fan. Broom has played domestic cricket for teams including Otago Volts,Derbyshire County Cricket Club and Canterbury. After making his international debut in 2009,Broom was recalled in to the squad in 2017 following a successful domestic season,and made his Test debut.

The 2017–18 Trans-Tasman Tri-Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that was held in Australia and New Zealand in February 2018. It was a tri-nation series between Australia,England and New Zealand. It followed on from England's tour of Australia,which included the 2017–18 Ashes series,and took the place of the planned Chappell–Hadlee Trophy series. It was the first T20I tri-series contested by full ICC members.
The Sri Lanka men's cricket team is touring New Zealand in March and April 2023 to play two Test,three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The Test matches formed part of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship and the ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
