Trey Haverty (born August 21, 1981) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the safeties coach at Southern Methodist University. He previously served as the defensive coordinator at Lamar University. Haverty played college football as a wide receiver at Texas Tech University.
Haverty was born August 21, 1981, in Richardson, Texas [1] to Leighton Haverty and E.R. (Bo) Campbell. His father played football at the college level for LSU. Haverty attended Berkner High School in his home town and was a three-time All-District and All-Area selection. As a junior, he was second statewide in receiving yards. [1]
Haverty played wide receiver for Texas Tech from 2000 to 2004. He was named Second-Team Academic All-Big 12 for the 2003 season. In his senior season in 2004, Haverty was named Second-Team All-American by Sports Illustrated and Third-Team by the Associated Press. [2] Additionally, he led the Big 12 Conference in receptions and was second in receiving yards. [3]
Haverty began his coaching career at Midlothian High School before coaching wide receivers at Cisco College in 2006. He then served several years as a graduate assistant at TCU before spending the 2010 season as the defensive coordinator for Millsaps. In 2011, he returned to TCU to accept the safeties coach position left vacant by Chad Glasgow who had become the defensive coordinator for Texas Tech. Following the 2011 season and Glasgow's return to TCU, Haverty was moved to the wide receivers coaching position.
On December 30, 2012, it was announced that Haverty had accepted a coaching position at his alma mater Texas Tech under head coach Kliff Kingsbury. [4] Haverty was a player at Texas Tech while Kingsbury was the team's starting quarterback.
Haverty was named as Texas Tech's safeties coach for the 2013 season and coached the position for two years. His coaching position was changed to outside linebackers for the 2015 season before being fired in December.
On January 26, 2016, Haverty was named defensive coordinator for the Lamar Cardinals. He replaces Craig McGallion who announced his retirement in November, 2015. [5]
Kliff Timothy Kingsbury is an American football coach and former quarterback who is the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Texas Tech, finishing in the top three in several school passing records before being selected in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. He later played for other teams before entering coaching in 2008.
Michael Chester "Mickey" Matthews is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at James Madison University (JMU) from 1999 to 2013, compiling a record of 109–71. Matthews coached the 2004 James Madison Dukes football team to an NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship.
William Calvin Bradley is an American former football player and coach. He played as a safety, punter and return specialist in the National Football League (NFL), earning All-Pro honors twice. He played with the Philadelphia Eagles for most of his career. As an assistant coach he won two Grey Cups in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was also the defensive backs coach of the San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football.
Sonny Jack Cumbie is an American football coach and former quarterback. He is the head football coach at Louisiana Tech University, a position he has held since the 2022 season. Cumbie previously served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Texas Tech University and was the interim head coach after the departure of Matt Wells in 2021. He also served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Texas Christian University (TCU). Cumbie played college football at Texas Tech and was the team's starting quarterback during the 2004 season, when he led the nation in passing and total offense and a guided the Red Raiders to win in the 2004 Holiday Bowl, earning MVP honors for the game. Cumbie played professionally in the Arena Football League (AFL), the Indoor Football League (IFL), and briefly in the National Football League (NFL).

In their first season under head coach Mike Leach, the Red Raiders compiled a 7–6 record, finished in fourth place in Southern Division of the Big 12, and outscored opponents by a combined total of 330 to 278. The team played its home games at Jones SBC Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.

In their fifth season under head coach Mike Leach, the Red Raiders compiled an overall record of 8–4 record with a mark of 5–3 in conference play, finished in a tie for third place in Southern Division of the Big 12, defeated California in the 2004 Holiday Bowl, and outscored opponents by a combined total of 434 to 314. The team played its home games at Jones SBC Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.
Daniel "Sonny" Dykes is an American football coach, and a former college baseball player. He is currently the head football coach at Texas Christian University (TCU), and previously served in the same role at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 2018 to 2021, the University of California, Berkeley from 2013 to 2016, and Louisiana Tech University from 2010 to 2012. In his first season at TCU, he led the Horned Frogs to a win in the semifinal and an appearance in the National Championship game.

Brian Norwood is an American football coach. He currently serves as defensive backs coach, assistant head coach, and defensive passing game coordinator at UCLA. Prior to that, he most recently was the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach with Navy Midshipmen football. Previously, Norwood served as co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach with Bill Snyder at Kansas State Wildcats football and Philip Montgomery at Tulsa Golden Hurricane football. This was after holding the position of assistant head coach to Art Briles at Baylor University. Both Norwood and Briles served as assistants to Mike Leach at Texas Tech in 2000. Norwood was also an assistant to Joe Paterno at Penn State from 2001 to 2007.
The 2016 Lamar Cardinals football team represented Lamar University in the 2016 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Cardinals were led by seventh-year head coach Ray Woodard and played their home games at Provost Umphrey Stadium. They were a member of the Southland Conference. They finished the season 3–8, 3–6 in Southland play to finish in a tie for eighth place.
Mike Schultz is an American football coach. Hired on December 21, 2016 to replace Ray Woodard, he was the second head coach of the Lamar Cardinals football program since its resurrection for the 2010 season.

Emmett Jones is an American football coach who is the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at the University of Oklahoma. He was previously the wide receivers coach for the Kansas Jayhawks football and Texas Tech football. Jones was named wide receivers coach on December 6, 2021, joining Joey McGuire in his first season as head coach. Jones left Texas Tech football and joined the Oklahoma Sooners football on January 10, 2023.
