The 2021 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on 22 January 2022. [1] It was the 29th annual countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as voted for by listeners of Australian radio station triple j.
Australian children's music group the Wiggles was voted into first place with their Like a Version cover of Tame Impala's "Elephant", making it the first Like a Version to place first in a Hottest 100. Olivia Rodrigo and Doja Cat achieved the most entries in the countdown, with both scoring five. [2]
On 18 March 2022, triple j confirmed that a compilation album would no longer be released in conjunction with the annual countdown. [3]
The triple j Hottest 100 allows members of the public to vote online for their top ten songs of the year, which are then used to calculate the year's 100 most popular songs. Any song initially released between 1 December 2020 and 30 November 2021 was eligible for the 2021 triple j Hottest 100.
Voting opened on 14 December 2021.
Prior to the countdown, four favourites emerged. Various music blogs and bookmakers placed "Stay" by Australian rapper the Kid Laroi and Canadian musician Justin Bieber; "Good 4 U" by American singer Olivia Rodrigo; "The Angel of 8th Ave." by Australian rock band Gang of Youths; and Australian children's music group the Wiggles' Like a Version cover of "Elephant" by Tame Impala as the songs most likely to take first place. The Triple J Hottest 100 is an annual music listener poll hosted by the publicly funded national Australian youth radio station Triple J. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite Australian and alternative music of the year in an online poll conducted two weeks prior to the new year.
The 2000 Triple J Hottest 100, announced in January 2001, was the eighth such countdown of the most popular songs of the year, according to listeners of the Australian radio station Triple J. As in previous years, a CD featuring 37 songs was released. The CD featured Queens of the Stone Age's song "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" despite it not making the top 100.
The Triple J Hottest 100 of All Time was a music poll conducted in 2009 amongst listeners of Australian youth radio network Triple J. Over half a million votes were compiled, with Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" collecting the highest number of votes. Voters could submit a list of up to ten different songs as well as nominating one of these as their "all-time" favourite song.
"Elephant" is a song by Australian musical project Tame Impala, released on 26 July 2012 as the lead single from their second album Lonerism (2012). The single features artwork from Australian artist Leif Podhajsky, who also created the artwork for Innerspeaker and the follow-up Lonerism.
The 2014 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on Australia Day, 26 January 2015. It was the 22nd countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by the listeners of Australian radio station Triple J. It was won by "Talk Is Cheap", one of three songs that Chet Faker had in the top 10.

The 2018 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on 27 January 2019. It is the 26th countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by listeners of Australian radio station triple j. A record-breaking number of voters participated by choosing their top ten songs of 2018.
The iHeartRadio Music Award for Best Music Video is one of the awards handed out at the yearly iHeartRadio Music Awards. It was first awarded in 2017 and presented to Fifth Harmony for their song "Work From Home". Cardi B is the most nominated artist in this category, with a total of six nominations. BTS are the most awarded artist with four wins, all of which were done consecutively.

A record-breaking number of votes were cast by listeners choosing their top ten songs of 2019. This was the first Hottest 100 countdown to reach 3 million votes.
The Triple J Hottest 100 of the 2010s was held on 14 March 2020. It is a countdown of the most popular songs of the 2010s as chosen by listeners of Australian radio station triple j. 1.8 million votes were cast by listeners choosing their top ten songs of the decade.
The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards were held on September 12, 2021, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City. This marked the first time in eight years that the venue hosted the show. The show was hosted by hip-hop rapper and singer Doja Cat. It was the first time in history a Video of the Year nominee hosted the ceremony the same year.
