Christian Benson, known professionally as Luude, is an Australian electronic dance music producer. [2] [1] He is best known for his 2021 cover of "Down Under".

He is also half of Australian electronic duo Choomba. [2]

Life and career

Christian Benson was born in Tasmania, Australia, the son of a guitar shredder, Mark. After high school, he relocated to Perth, Western Australia after being inspired by an Avicii YouTube clip encouraged him to try producing. [1]

Luude released his first single in December 2015.

On 3 September 2021, Luude released the EP 6AM. [3]

In 2021, Luude remixed Men at Work's "Down Under" as a drum and bass track. Men at Work's lead singer Colin Hay re-recorded the vocal for the track's official release in November 2021, [4] on the Sweat It Out label. [5] [6] The record made the top ten in Australia and in the United Kingdom and was number one in New Zealand, [7] where by 6 February 2022, it had spent four weeks at the top, twice as many weeks as the original did in 1982.

"Down Under" is a song recorded by Australian rock band Men at Work. It was originally released in 1980 as the B-side to their first local single, "Keypunch Operator", released before the band signed with Columbia Records. Both early songs were written by the group's co-founders, Colin Hay and Ron Strykert. The early version of "Down Under" has a slightly different tempo and arrangement from the later Columbia release. The best-known version was then released on Columbia in 1981 as the second single from their debut album Business as Usual (1981).

Mattafix were an English electronic duo, consisting of vocalist Marlon Roudette and producer and keyboardist Preetesh Hirji. Their sound was a fusion of hip hop, R&B, reggae, dancehall, blues, jazz, soul and world. Known for their 2005 hit single "Big City Life", they won the Sopot International Song Festival in 2006.

Choomba is an Australian electronic dance music duo consisting of cousins, record producer Christian Benson and Timothy Benson. The project formed in 2019. They received full rotation on Triple J with their song "La Luh". The pair have played Wildlands Festival, Spilt Milk and The Grass Is Greener. They hosted the electronic music program The Nudge on Triple J from August 2021 until their departure in March 2022.
