Trojan 1337 is an India-based hacktivist group that conducts cyberattacks, particularly against countries with strained relations with India. ^{[1] [2]}

The group drew significant attention in 2023 and 2025 for cyberattacks on various government and educational websites in Bangladesh and Pakistan. ^{[3] [4] [5]} Their cyberattacks often occur on symbolic dates, particularly India’s Independence Day. ^[2]

Cyberattacks

15 August 2025

Trojan 1337 carried out multiple politically motivated cyberattacks, most of them targeting Bangladesh:

• 15 August 2023 & 2025 – Bangladesh government websites defaced: On both occasions, the group defaced several Bangladeshi websites on India’s Independence Day. In 2023, they hacked the websites of Savar Union Parishad and Rohitpur Union Parishad, displaying the message: “Freedom is not given — it has to be taken.” ^{[6] [7]}

• Dhaka educational institutions: The websites of Rupnagar Government Secondary School and Darus Salam Government Secondary School were hacked, with the group describing it as a symbolic act for Independence Day. ^[8]

• National Board of Revenue (NBR) & University of Dhaka: Reports stated that Trojan 1337 hacked both websites. ^[9]

• Dhaka WASA Scada Hack: A 1.5-minute video allegedly containing Dhaka WASA Scada was Hacked. ^{[10] [7]}

• 22 educational institutions in Bangladesh: The group claimed responsibility for hacking the websites of 22 educational institutions across Bangladesh, stealing sensitive data. ^{[11] [12] [13]}

• The official website of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab was hacked by Trojan 1337. ^{[14] [15]}
