Trutnowo [trutˈnɔvɔ] (German : Trautenau)^[1] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Bartoszyce, within Bartoszyce County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia.^[2] It lies approximately 14 kilometres (9 mi) south of Bartoszyce and 45 km (28 mi) north-east of the regional capital Olsztyn.

Gmina Bartoszyce is a rural gmina in Bartoszyce County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, on the border with Russia. Its seat is the town of Bartoszyce, although the town is not part of the territory of the gmina.

Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (East Prussia).

East Prussia was a province of the Kingdom of Prussia from 1773 to 1829 and again from 1878 ; following World War I it formed part of the Weimar Republic's Free State of Prussia, until 1945.
