Tsering Dhondup, also known as Tsering Dhundup Yangdhar, is the Minister of Finance of the Tibetan-government-in-exile, officially known as Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).

Biography

Dhondup was born in 1960 during his parents' escape to exile from Tibet after 1959 Tibetan uprising.

He attended school at the Tibetan Homes Foundation and Central School for Tibetans, Mussoorie in 1981. [1] He obtained Bachelor of Commerce degree at Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 1983. During this period, he was the President of the Tibetan Freedom Movement in Chandigarh. [1]

He joined and worked for the Central Tibetan Administration in December 1984. He obtained a master's degree in Commerce at Himachal Pradesh University in 1993. In fall 1993 with a Fulbright Scholarship, he studied Business Management for one year at the University of Montana, United States. [1]

He returned to India in October 1994, where he continued to work for the Central Tibetan Administration. He was Secretary of the Department of Education in 2000, and Department of Home in 2002, until October 2007 when his nomination as a Minister was approved by the 14th Tibetan Parliament in Exile. [1]

From 2007 to 2011, he was Minister of Finance in the 13th Kashag, directed by Prime Minister Samdhong Rinpoche. [2]

He was reelected as Minister of Finance in the 14th Kashag, directed by Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay. [3]

Sikyong Head of government of the Central Tibetan Administration

The Sikyong is the political leader of the Central Tibetan Administration, a Tibetan exile organisation also known as the Tibetan Government-in-Exile based on the 2011 Charter of Tibetans-in-exile. The title was created in 2012 after the 14th Dalai Lama decided not to assume any political and administrative authority as the head of the Tibetan Administration for Tibetans-in-exile.

The Tibetan Parliament in Exile (TPiE), officially the Parliament of the Central Tibetan Administration, is the unicameral and highest legislative organ of the Central Tibetan Administration, the government-in-exile of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Kashag Governing council of Tibet from 1721 to 1959

The Kashag, was the governing council of Tibet during the rule of the Qing dynasty and post-Qing period until the 1950s. It was created in 1721, and set by Qianlong Emperor in 1751 for the Ganden Phodrang in the 13-Article Ordinance for the More Effective Governing of Tibet. In that year the Tibetan government was reorganized after the riots in Lhasa of the previous year. The civil administration was represented by Council (Kashag) after the post of Desi was abolished by the Qing imperial court. 2011 Central Tibetan Administration general election

The Central Tibetan Administration’s general elections were held for the second time on March 20, 2011 to elect the Kalon Tripa of the Tibetan government in exile. This was the third time Tibetans in exile were able to choose their Prime Minister as the office was traditionally appointed by the Dalai Lama. Elections for the 43 Chitue (members) of the Tibetan Parliament in Dharamshala were also held. Some 49,000 of the 83,000 Tibetans registered to vote took part in the election.

Elections for the office of Sikyong and the Chitue (Members) of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile were held between October 18, 2015 and March 20, 2016. Tibetans in exile voted for the fourth time their political representative and executive of the Central Tibetan Administration, the self-proclaimed Tibetan government in exile. The election was overseen and organized by the independent CTA agency, Tibetan Election Commission.

2001 Central Tibetan Administration general election

General elections for the Central Tibetan Administration were held on 29 July 2001. For the first time, voters elected the Kalon Tripa, as well as members of Parliament. Previously the Prime Minister had been appointed by the Dalai Lama under the Parliament's ratification. This was part of a series of reforms encouraged by the Dalai Lama for the democratization of the exile Tibetan community. Lobsang Tenzin, the 5th Samdhong Rinpoche won the election with more than 80% of the vote.

Kaydor Aukatsang

Kelsang Dorjee (Kaydor) Aukatsang (Tibetan: སྐལ་བཟང་རྡོ་རྗེ་ ༼སྐལ་རྡོར༽ དབུ་དཀར་ཚང་ is a Tibetan politician and candidate for the Central Tibetan Administration office of Sikyong. Kaydor was a close aide of the current Sikyong, Dr. Lobsang Sangay, under whom he held various official positions including, the role of North America representative for the Dalai Lama, Chief Resilience Officer of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Director of the Social and Resource Development Fund.

Penpa Tsering Sikyong of the Tibetan Government in Exile

Penpa Tsering is a Tibetan politician. He is the second democratically elected Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration. He succeeded the last Sikyong Lobsang Sangay on 27 May 2021. Penpa Tsering was the speaker of the Parliament of the Central Tibetan Administration for two terms between 2008 and 2016.
