Machhlishahr is a town in Jaunpur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated 30 km west of district headquarters Jaunpur. NH-231 passes through the city. Machhlishahr –Janghai NH-731B –Bhadohi four-lane national highway is under construction which will boost the economy of the region. Machhlishahr is a Nagar panchayat and there has been a longstanding demand for making it a Nagar palika parishad. In 2020,Machhalisahar nagar panchayat has secured 33rd all India rank in Swachh Survekshan cleanliness survey.
Parasnath Yadav was an Indian politician and was elected 7 times MLA in Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh,3 times Minister in Government of Uttar Pradesh and 2 times Member of Parliament from Jaunpur. He was suffering from bladder cancer for many years,eventually he died on the 12 June 2020 at his residence in Jaunpur district,Uttar Pradesh.

He won the seat in the 2014 Indian general election and 1999,and he is a founding member of the Rashtriya Samata Party (Secular). He is the founder and head of Gyan Bharti Model Residential Complex school in Hisua,Nawada. He often visits the school during Annual Day functions as chief guest. He was a close friend of dreaded don turned politician of Bihar ex MP Anand Mohan Singh of Saharsa. He founded Bharatiya Sab Log Party in 2020.
Veena Devi is an Indian politician serving her 2nd term as current Member of parliament from Vaishali. She is a former member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from the Gaighat constituency. In the 2019 Indian general election,she contested from Vaishali with Lok Janshakti Party and defeated Raghuvansh Prasad Singh.
