Oromia Zone is a zone in Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Oromia is named for the Oromo people, who settled along the edge of the Ethiopian Highlands that form this Zone. Oromia Zone is bordered on the southwest by North Shewa Zone, on the northwest by South Wollo and Argobba special woreda, and on the east by the Afar Region. The Zone conists of 7 Woredas which are Artuma Fursi, Bati, Bati Town, Dewa Cheffa, Dewa Harewa, Jilye Tumuga and Kemisie town. Kamisee is the administrative center of the Zone.
West Shewa Zone is a zone in Oromia Region of Ethiopia. This zone takes its name from the kingdom or former province of Shewa. East Shewa is a zone in Oromia Region of Ethiopia. East Shewa is located at centre of oromia Oromia, connecting the western regions to the eastern ones. This zone is bordered on the south by the West Arsi Zone, on the southwest by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the west by Southwest Shewa Zone and Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne, on the northwest by North Shewa, on the north by the Amhara Region, on the northeast by the Afar Region, and on the southeast by Arsi; its westernmost reach is defined by the course of the Bilate River. Towns and cities in East Shewa include Dukam, Galan, Tullu Dimt, Basaqa and Aqaqi, Bishoftu, Metehara, Batu Dambal and the capital Adama. With the intent to rehabilitate degraded forests, the Zonal Agriculture and Rural Development Office announced 2 October 2006 that it had planted over 36.3 million seedlings in 10 of the Zone's 12 woredas, covering 4,000 hectares of land.

Barento is one of the two major subgroups of the Oromo people. They live in the West Hararghe Zone, East Hararghe Zone, Arsi zone, of the Oromia Region of Ethiopia while the other subgroup named Borana Oromo inhabiting Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne, West Shewa Zone, West Welega Zone and Borena Zone of the Oromia Region of Ethiopia.
Nono was selected by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2003 as an area for voluntary resettlement for farmers from overpopulated areas. That year this woreda became the home for a total of 590 heads of households and 391 total family members. The settlers included 861 individuals who came from Dodotana Sire, Hitosa, Merti, and Ziway Dugda woredas in the Arsi Zone. The next year this woreda was selected again as a resettlement area, and became the home of a total of 2370 heads of household and a total of 16,350 family members.

Part of the Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne, Alem Gena is on the southwest by Southwest Shewa Zone, on the northwest by Walmara, on the north by Burayu, on the northeast by the city of Addis Ababa, and on the east by the Akaki. The Awash River defines this woreda's boundary with south west Shewa Zone. The towns in Sebeta Hawas include Sebeta Hawas (Town), Awash Melka, and Tefki. The town of Sebeta was separated from this district.
Bereh is a woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. It was part of former Berehna Aleltu woreda which was separated for Aleltu and Bereh woredas and Sendafa Town. Part of the Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne, Bereh is bordered on the south by the Akaki and East Shewa Zone, on the southwest by the city of Addis Ababa, on the west by Sululta, on the north by North Shewa Zone, and on the east by the Amhara Region.
Yaya Gulele is one of the districts(Aanaalee) in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. It was part of former Yaya Gulelena Tulluu Liban which was separated from Liban (Aanaa) and Yaya Gulele district. Part of the North Shewa Zone, Yaya Gulele is bordered on the south by Mulona Sululta, on the southwest by the Muger River which separates it from the West Shewa Zone, on the west by Degem, on the north by Gerar Jarso, on the north east by the Liban (Aanaa), and on the east by Wuchale. Sululta is a town and woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. It was part of former Mulona Sululta Woreda which was separated for Mulo and Sululta woredas. Part of the Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne, Sululta is bordered on the south by the city of Addis Ababa, on the west by the Mulo and West Shewa Zone, on the north by North Shewa Zone, and on the east by Bereh. Towns in Sululta include Chancho, Durba, Muger Sheleko, Rob Gebeya, Sululta and Segno Gebeya.
Jimma Rare is a woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. It shares the name of one of the subgroups of the Oromo people, the Jimma Rare. Part of the Horo Gudru Welega Zone, Jimma Rare is bordered on the west by Jimma Horo, on the north by Guduru, on the east and south by the Guder River which separates it from the West Shewa Zone. The administrative center of the woreda is Wayu; other towns in Jimma Rare include Goben and Babal'a.
Akaki is a woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. Part of the Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne, Akaki is bordered on the southwest by the Southwest Shewa Zone, on the west by Sebeta Hawas, on the northwest by Addis Ababa, on the north by the Bereh, and on the east by East Shewa Zone. The administrative center of this woreda is Dukem.
Naannawa Shashamane is a woreda in Oromia Region, Ethiopia. It is named after the town of Shashamene what was separated from this woreda. Part of the West Arsi Zone located in the Great Rift Valley, Shashamene is bordered on the south by the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region, on the west by Shala, on the north by Arsi Negele, on the east by the Kore, and on the southeast by Kofele. The largest town in Shashamene is Kuyera.

The Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne is a zone in Oromia Region of Ethiopia that surrounds Addis Ababa. It was created in 2008 from parts of North Shewa Zone, East Shewa Zone, Southwest Shewa zone and West Shewa Zones. The zone was created to support the cooperation and development of the surrounding areas of Addis Ababa, and to control the urban sprawl of this city on the lands of Oromia. The administrative center of this zone is in Addis Ababa (Finfinne). The districts and town in this zone include Akaki, Bereh, Burayu, Dubra, Holeta Town, Koye Feche, Mulo, Sebeta Hawas, Sebeta Town, Sendafa Town, Sululta, Walmara, Laga Xafo Laga Dadhi, Galaan, Sebeta Hawas (Town) and Dukem.
The Machaa are a subgroup of the Oromo people in western and Central Oromia. They live south of the Blue Nile (Abbai) in the northwestern part of the region of Oromia and in parts of West Shewa Zone, South West Shewa Zone, Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinnee, West Welega Zone, East Welega Zone, Illubabor Zone, Kelam Welega Zone and Horo Guduru. A small group of them lives in the area north of the Blue Nile Wambara in the Benishangul-Gumuz Region.

The Wollo Oromo people are an Oromo subgroup inhabiting the historic Wollo Province of northern Ethiopia.
Kemise is the administrative center of the Oromia Zone in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Kemise is 224 kilometres (139 mi) northeast of the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa and has a latitude and longitude of 10°43′N39°52′E with an elevation of 1424 meters above sea level. It was part of the former Chaffa Gola Dewerahmedo district and is now surrounded by the Dawa Chaffa district.
