The Twelfth Seimas of Lithuania is a parliament (Seimas) in Lithuania. Elections took place on 9 October 2016, with the run-off on 23 October. The Seimas commenced its work on 14 November 2016 and served a four-year term, with the last session taking place on 10 November 2020.
In this term two members-elect were born after 11 March 1990 (Rūta Miliūtė and Virginijus Sinkevičius). [1]
In the elections in 2016, 70 members of the parliament were elected on proportional party lists and 71 in single-member constituencies. Elections took place on 9 October 2012. Run-off elections were held on 23 October in the single-seat constituencies where no candidate secured a seat in the first round.

Viktoras Pranckietis was elected as a Speaker.
Since 2018 the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union tried to obstruct a work of critical of them institutions (notably LRT and Constitutional Court of Lithuania). [4] [5]
After the elections, the parliamentary groups were formed in the Seimas, largely on the party lines: Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽSF), Social Democratic Party of Lithuania (LSDPF), Liberal Movement (LSF), Order and Justice (FTT), Electoral Action of the Poles in Lithuania (LLRAF), Homeland Union - Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TSLKDF) and the Mixed Group of Members of the Seimas (MSNG). The term of the Seimas was noted for particularly significant shifts among parliamentary groups. Most notable examples were Social Democratic Party and Order and Justice parliamentary groups. The former had split into two separate parliamentary groups (and later, parties), while the latter (along with the party) completely disintegrated.

The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, or simply the Seimas, is the unicameral legislative body of the Republic of Lithuania. The Seimas constitutes the legislative branch of government in Lithuania, enacting laws and amendments to the Constitution, passing the budget, confirming the Prime Minister and the Government and controlling their activities.
Valentinas Mazuronis is a Lithuanian politician and a member of the European Parliament.
The Lithuanian Green Party is a green-liberal political party in Lithuania. It was founded in 2011. The party's chairwoman is environmental activist Ieva Budraitė.

The Sixth Seimas of Lithuania was the first parliament (Seimas) elected in Lithuania after it restored independence on 11 March 1990. Elections took place on 25 October 1992, with the second round on 15 November. In a surprisingly decisive outcome, the elections were won by Democratic Labour Party of Lithuania (LDDP), with 73 seats. The result reflected widespread dissatisfaction with the economic situation and the policies of the ruling Sąjūdis political movement in the preceding Supreme Council of Lithuania.
The Tenth Seimas of Lithuania was a parliament (Seimas) elected in Lithuania. Elections took place on 12 October 2008, with the run-off on 26 October. The Seimas commenced its work on 17 November 2008 and served a four-year term, with the last session on 14 November 2012.
Remigijus Žemaitaitis is a Lithuanian right-wing politician and member of the Seimas, known for his antisemitic statements. He is the founder and leader of the political party Dawn of Nemunas.
Saulius Skvernelis is a Lithuanian politician who served as prime minister of Lithuania between 2016 and 2020. He had previously served as police commissioner, and was Minister of the Interior from 2014 to 2016. Though he was an independent politician, he was backed by the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union and was a member of its parliamentary group until 2022, as a result of which he became the first head of government in European history primarily backed by a green party.
Viktoras Pranckietis is a Lithuanian agronomist and politician. He was the speaker of the Seimas.
Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė is a Lithuanian politician and the incumbent Minister of Education, Science and Sports, succeeding Gintautas Jakštas on 27 June 2024. She has served as a Member of the Seimas since 2016, and has additionally served as Deputy Speaker of the Seimas since 2020 and as First Vice Chairwoman of the Homeland Union since 2021.
Skvernelis Cabinet was the 17th cabinet of Lithuania since 1990. At the end of its term, it consisted of Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis, who served as the Head of Government, and 14 government ministers from the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union, Social Democratic Labour Party of Lithuania, and Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance. In the beginning, the Social Democratic Party was a member of the coalition, while the Social Democratic Labour Party had not been formed yet and the Electoral Action of Poles was not a member of the coalition. The Order and Justice party joined the coalition in 2019 before dissolving itself.

Gintautas Paluckas is a Lithuanian politician. Paluckas was Deputy Mayor of Vilnius from 2015 to 2019, and the leader of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) from 2017 to 2021. Paluckas led his party in the 2020 parliamentary election and won a seat in the Seimas. In 2024, as the Deputy Leader of the party, Paluckas participated in the Lithuanian parliamentary election, which was won by the LSDP. As a result, he was nominated as a candidate for the position of Prime Minister of Lithuania.

The Union of Democrats "For Lithuania" is a centre-left and green Lithuanian political party founded on 29 January 2022 by Saulius Skvernelis, former Prime Minister of Lithuania. The party is moderately socially conservative.
Agnė Širinskienė is a Lithuanian politician. She was elected to the Seimas with the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union in 2016. One of the leading members of the party, she was described as "Ramūnas Karbauskis's hitwoman". She left the party in 2021 and joined Dawn of Nemunas in 2024.
Tomas Tomilinas is a Lithuanian trade unionist and politician of Polish origin. He was elected to the Seimas with the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union in 2016, but was expelled from the party in 2021 and joined the Union of Democrats "For Lithuania".
Artūras Orlauskas is a Lithuanian comedian, actor, politician, one of the leaders of the Lithuanian Family Movement, and water polo player. He is the leader of the electoral list of the People and Justice Union in the 2024 Lithuanian parliamentary election.
Vytautas Sinica is a Lithuanian political scientist, writer and far-right politician. A founding member and vice-chairman of the National Alliance party, he was elected to the Seimas in the 2024 Lithuanian parliamentary election, becoming the party's first Member of the Seimas.
