USA Broomball is the former official governing body for the sport of broomball in the United States and was an organization recognized by the International Federation of Broomball Associations (IFBA). It folded prior to the 2020 season due to financial mismanagement. Two new American broomball organizations have since formed, All Elite Broomball (AEB) [1] and the United States Broomball Association (USBA). [2]

USA Broomball was responsible for sanctioning tournaments and leagues, training and certifying officials, and recognizing broomball governing bodies for individual states in the USA. It also organized and oversaw the annual National Championship tournament, held in Minnesota in odd-numbered years and in a different state with a recognized state organization in even-numbered years. National championships were contested in Men's Class A, Men's Class B, Men's Class C, Men's Class D, Co-Rec, and Collegiate divisions in 2007. USA Broomball took responsibility for placing teams in the appropriate division and teams were not allowed to pick up players from higher-division teams for the National Championships.

History

Until 2020, the American broomball organization that was recognized by the IFBA was USA Broomball. USA Broomball folded prior to the 2020 season due to financial mismanagement. In its wake, two organizations were formed, All Elite Broomball (AEB) and the United States Broomball Association (USBA).

USA Broomball was responsible for sanctioning tournaments, training and certifying officials, and recognizing state governing bodies regarding broomball. The states that had governing bodies recognized by USA Broomball included Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, and Ohio. USA Broomball also organized and oversaw the annual USA Broomball National Championships. In odd-numbered years, Minnesota (the unofficial U.S. broomball capital and home to the majority of broomball leagues and teams in the country) hosted the National Championships. In even-numbered years, a different state with an officially recognized state organization hosted the tournament.

The Queensland Cyclones are an Australian broomball team, representing the state of Queensland at the Australian National Broomball Championships.

In professional boxing, the undisputed champion of a weight class is the boxer who holds world titles from all of the major sanctioning organisations simultaneously. There are currently four major sanctioning bodies: WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO. There were many undisputed champions before the number of sanctioning bodies increased to four in 2007, but there have only been 10 boxers to hold all four titles simultaneously. As of November 2021, Josh Taylor and Canelo Álvarez are undisputed champions in the light welterweight and super middleweight divisions respectively.

American Bicycle Association

The American Bicycle Association (ABA) is a US-based BMX sports governing body in Gilbert, Arizona. In 2011, the ABA merged with the former National Bicycle League and formed the current USA BMX. The organization was founded by Merl Mennenga and Gene Roden in 1977. As the largest BMX sanctioning body in the world, it includes tracks in the United States and in Canada.

USA Volleyball

USA Volleyball (USAV) is a non-profit organization which is recognized as the national governing body of volleyball in the United States by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). It is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and was founded by the YMCA of the USA. The organization is responsible for selecting and supporting US national teams that compete in FIVB-sanctioned international volleyball and beach volleyball competitions such as the Olympic Summer Games. USA Volleyball is also charged with fostering the development of the sport of volleyball within the United States through involvement with its forty Regional Volleyball Associations (RVAs).

The International Federation of Broomball Associations (IFBA), formally established in 1998, is the world governing body for the sport of broomball.

Town Team Baseball is a variety of amateur baseball played in the United States. In Town Team baseball, sometimes also called townball, the teams represent either a given city or town, or a commercial enterprise which sponsors the team. Usually a statewide governing body sets uniform rules for two or more classes, including proximity and other eligibility rules, pay or stipends for players and coaches, boundaries, and rules to prevent players from switching teams without reason. Youth in Music Band Championships Music organizations based in the United States

The Youth in Music Band Championships is an annual high school marching band competition in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is one of the largest marching band events in the Upper Midwest, attracting two dozen competitors and thousands of spectators every year.
