Chernihiv (U310) was a Natya-class minesweeper of the Ukrainian Navy captured by the Russian Navy when the Black Sea Fleet seized Ukraine's Southern Naval Base, during the 2014 Crimean crisis.

History

Minesweeper Zenitchik was built in the Sredne-Nevskiy SS3 shipbuilding yard in Leningrad in 1974. The ship was deployed on combat tours in Persian Gulf, Red Sea and the Atlantic between 1977 and 1988. [1] [2]

During the partition of the Black Sea Fleet, the minesweeper was transferred to Ukrainian Navy on July 25, 1997. It was renamed Zhovti Vody (U310), in honor of the Battle of Zhovti Vody. On June 18, 2004 the minesweeper was renamed Chernihiv. [1]

The Battle of Korsun. Was the second significant battle of the Khmelnytsky Uprising. Near the site of the present-day city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi in central Ukraine, a numerically superior force of Zaporozhian Cossacks and Crimean Tatars under the command of Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky and Tugay Bey attacked and defeated the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth’s forces under the command of Hetmans Mikołaj Potocki and Marcin Kalinowski. As in the previous battle at Zhovti Vody, the outmanned Commonwealth’s forces took a defensive position, retreated, and were thoroughly routed by the opposing force.

Natya-class minesweeper

The Natya class, Soviet designation Project 266M Akvamarin, were a group of minesweepers built for the Soviet Navy and export customers during the 1970s and 1980s. The ships were used for ocean minesweeping.

Yuri Olefirenko is a mid-size Project 773 landing ship of the Ukrainian Navy. From her original commissioning in 1971 until the 2014 Russian annexation of Crimea, she was based in the Southern Naval Base at Donuzlav. Since then Yuri Olefirenko was relocated to Ochakiv. She was reportedly captured by Russian forces during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine before being spotted still in active service on 3 June 2022.

The film was created with the support of the State Cinema of Ukraine.

Chernihiv(U205) was a Grisha II-class anti-submarine corvette of the Ukrainian Navy. Prior to joining the Ukrainian Navy she was a former Soviet Navy corvette named Izmail.
