Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in Austria have advanced significantly in the 21st century, and are now among the most advanced in Europe. Both male and female forms of same-sex sexual activity are legal in Austria. Registered partnerships were introduced in 2010, giving same-sex couples some of the rights of marriage. Stepchild adoption was legalised in 2013, while full joint adoption was legalised by the Constitutional Court of Austria in 2016. On 5 December 2017, the Austrian Constitutional Court decided to legalise same-sex marriage, and the ruling went into effect on 1 January 2019.

Same-sex marriage has been legal in Austria since 1 January 2019. On 4 December 2017, the Constitutional Court ruled that the non-discrimination and equality provisions of the Constitution of Austria guarantee same-sex couples the right to marry. The decision took effect on 1 January 2019, making Austria the 24th country in the world and the fifteenth in Europe to allow same-sex couples to marry nationwide. Austria has also recognised same-sex registered partnerships since 1 January 2010, providing several, but not all, of the rights, benefits, obligations and responsibilities of marriage.
Miss World 1987, the 37th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 12 November 1987 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. The winner was Ulla Weigerstorfer from Austria. She was crowned by Miss World 1986, Giselle Jeanne-Marie Laronde of Trinidad and Tobago. Runner-up was Albani Josefina Lozada Jiménez from Venezuela, and third was Anna Margrét Jónsdóttir from Iceland.
Miss World 1988, the 38th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 17 November 1988 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. The winner was Linda Pétursdóttir from Iceland. She was crowned by Miss World 1987, Ulla Weigerstorfer of Austria. Runner-up was Yeon-hee Choi representing Korea and third was Kirsty Roper from the United Kingdom. The Miss World 1988 was hosted by Peter Marshall, who has hosted other Miss World competitions such as Miss World 1986, and Alexandra Bastedo, with musical performances by Koreana and 1970s American pop musician Donny Osmond.

Musikantenstadl is a live television entertainment program broadcast in the German language throughout Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. It features Austrian, Swiss, and German popular folk music, international pop and folk music as well as interviews and comedy. Austria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with the song "Halo" written by Anders Nilsen, Gabriele Ponte, Luca Michlmayr, Rasmus Flyckt and Sophie Alexandra Tweed-Simmons. The song was performed by Lumix, which is the artistic name of DJ and producer Luca Michlmayr, featuring Pia Maria. On 8 February 2022, the Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) announced that they had internally selected Lumix and Pia Maria to compete at the 2022 contest, while "Halo" was presented to the public on 11 March 2022.
Claudia Plakolm is an Austrian politician of the People's Party (ÖVP) and State Secretary in the federal government of Nehammer. She was sworn in as a member of the National Council on 9 November 2017. Since 15 May 2021 she has been the federal chairman of the Young People's Party (JVP).
