Miss World is the oldest existing international beauty pageant. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951. Since his death in 2000, Morley's widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant. Along with Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth, it is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants.
The United States intervention in Grenada began at dawn on 25 October 1983. The United States and a coalition of six Caribbean nations intervened on the island nation of Grenada, 100 miles (160 km) north of Venezuela. Codenamed Operation Urgent Fury by the U.S. military, it resulted in military occupation within a few days. The invasion resulted in the appointment of an interim government, followed by elections in 1984.
Sir Eric Matthew Gairy PC was the first Prime Minister of Grenada, serving from his country's independence in 1974 until his overthrow in a coup by Maurice Bishop in 1979. Gairy also served as head of government in pre-independence Grenada as Chief Minister from 1961 to 1962, and as Premier from 1967 to 1974.
Miss World 2002, the 52nd edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 7 December 2002 at the Alexandra Palace in London, United Kingdom. It was initially intended to be staged in Abuja, but due to religious riots in the nearby city of Kaduna the pageant was relocated to London.
Eric Douglas Morley was a British TV host and the founder of the Miss World pageant and Come Dancing TV programme. His widow, Julia Morley, is now head of the pageant and his son Steve Douglas is one of its presenters.

The monarchy of Grenada is a system of government in which a hereditary monarch is the sovereign and head of state of Grenada. The current Grenadian monarch and head of state, since 8 September 2022, is King Charles III. As sovereign, he is the personal embodiment of the Grenadian Crown. Although the person of the sovereign is equally shared with 14 other independent countries within the Commonwealth of Nations, each country's monarchy is separate and legally distinct. Miss World 1972, the 22nd edition of the Miss World pageant, was held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK on 1 December 1972 on BBC. Fifty-three delegates vied for the crown won by Belinda Green of Australia. Green became the second Australian winner of the crown in just four years. Since the reigning Miss World 1971 had suffered a broken arm and was unable to travel to London, Mrs. Julia Morley crowned the new Miss World 1972.
Miss World 1971, the 21st edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 10 November 1971 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. 56 contestants competed for the Miss World and Lúcia Petterle from Brazil won the crown of Miss World 1971. She was crowned by Miss World 1970, Jennifer Hosten of Grenada. Although Petterle completed her reign as Miss World, she fell and broke her arm in the final month of her year and was unable to travel to London to participate in the Miss World 1972 contest.
Miss World 1970, the 20th Anniversary of the Miss World pageant, was held on 20 November 1970 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. 58 contestants competed for the Miss World title. Jennifer Hosten from Grenada won the crown of Miss World 1970. Although Miss World 1969, Eva Rueber-Staier of Austria, was present and took part in a dance routine before the announcement of the winner, the new Miss World was crowned by Bob Hope. The event was marked by controversy in the days beforehand, during the contest itself and afterwards.
The Grenadian passport is a travel document issued to citizens of Grenada, in accordance with the Grenadian Citizenship Act of 1976 and the Grenada Constitution, for the purpose of facilitating international travel. It allows the bearer to travel to foreign countries and the Commonwealth of Nations, in accordance with visa requirements, and facilitates the process of securing assistance from Grenadian consular officials abroad, if necessary.

Franklyn Harvey was a Grenadian academic, activist and professional, a founder of the New Jewel Movement (NJM) and principal author of their manifesto. He had a significant influence on the development of the Caribbean new left throughout the 1960s and 1970s and later, in the animation of hundreds of municipal and community projects all around the world. When the NJM took over the government of Grenada on 13 March 1979, Harvey's contributions to their manifesto began to take concrete form across the island.

Pearl Gladys Jansen is a South African beauty queen and singer who was first runner-up in the Miss World beauty contest in the UK in 1970. She was the first coloured woman to represent her country at this level. She competed as "Miss Africa South" due to apartheid.
