Unitat Municipal 9 (UM9, Municipal Unity 9 in English language) is a local political party, with an independentist and anticapitalist socialist ideology, of Sant Pere de Ribes (Garraf, Catalonia). UM9 is currently a member party of the Popular Unity Candidates.
The history of the party dates back to the 1979 municipal elections, the first held after the reform of the regime. In these first elections, created an "agrupacion de electores" (voters agrupation) that gathered together the BEAN, PSUC, PTC, CCOO and independents. [1] The number 1 of the list was Xavier Garriga i Cuadras, that was elected mayor in the elections. He was the first mayor of a candidacy of the modern Catalan independentist left in history. UM9 won the elections again in 1983 and in 1987 the list achieved an absolute majority. In 1986 UM9 was one of the main founders of the Popular Unity Candidates (CUP). In 1991 the list lost the absolute majority, but remained the most voted list and kept the mayor. In 1995 the agrupation transformed itself in a political party.
UM9 lost the local government in 1999, when a mayor of the Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC) was elected. The party only regained the mayor between 2013 and 2014, after a crisis of the local agrupation of the PSC. [2]

The Republican Left of Catalonia is a pro-Catalan independence, social-democratic political party in the Spanish autonomous community of Catalonia, with a presence also in Valencia, the Balearic Islands and the French department of Pyrénées-Orientales. It is also the main sponsor of the independence movement from France and Spain in the territories known as Catalan Countries, focusing on the achievement of the Catalan Republic. Its current president is Oriol Junqueras and its secretary-general is Marta Rovira. The party is a member of the European Free Alliance.
The Socialists' Party of Catalonia is a social-democratic political party in Catalonia, Spain, resulting from the merger of three parties: the Socialist Party of Catalonia–Regrouping, led by Josep Pallach i Carolà, the Socialist Party of Catalonia–Congress, and the Catalan Federation of the PSOE. It is the Catalan instance of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), and its Aranese section is Unity of Aran. The party had also been allied with federalist and republican political platform Citizens for Change until the 2010 election. PSC–PSOE has its power base in the Barcelona metropolitan area and the comarques of Tarragonès, Montsià, and Val d'Aran.
The constitutional status of Catalonia is currently subject to a dispute between the Government of Spain, which view it as an autonomous community within the Kingdom of Spain and the unilaterally declared Catalan Republic, which view it as an independent sovereign state. The Politics of Catalonia operate within this context and are primarily related to the Generalitat de Catalunya institutional system, including the Parliament of Catalonia, the President and the Executive Council.
José Montilla Aguilera is a Spanish politician who is currently a member of the Spanish Senate. He was the 128th President of Generalitat de Catalunya. He became the First Secretary of the Socialists' Party of Catalonia on 18 June 2000, and a member of the Federal Executive Committee and the Federal Committee of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) on 23 July 2000. He served as Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade in the government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero from 18 April 2004 until 9 September 2006. He is married and has five children. On 29 November 2010 he announced he would not stand again for the post of First Secretary of the PSC due to his party's having obtained its worst-ever results in the 2010 election.
The Popular Unity Candidacy is a left-wing to far-left pro-Catalan independence political party active primarily in Catalonia, where it has political representation, but also in other autonomous communities in Spain it considers to be part of the Catalan Countries. The CUP traditionally has focused on municipal politics, and is made up of a series of autonomous candidatures that run in local elections. Its presence is strongest within the contemporary Catalonia autonomous community.
Castellar del Vallès is a Spanish municipality of Catalonia in the comarca of Vallès Occidental. It is located 7 km from Sabadell and 11 km from Terrassa, the comarca's two capitals. Other villages near Castellar del Vallès are Sant Llorenç Savall, Matadepera and Sentmenat.
The 2009–2011 Catalan independence referendums, a series of non-binding and unofficial referendums, "popular votes", took place in municipalities around Catalonia. In them voters indicated whether they supported Catalan independence from Spain. The first such referendum took place in Arenys de Munt on 13 September 2009: there followed votes in Sant Jaume de Frontanyà on 12 December and in 166 other municipalities on 13 December. Another vote ensued in April 2011 in Barcelona.

Left Nationalists was a Catalan socialist and independentist political organization founded in 1979 from historical militants of the Socialist Party of National Liberation (PSAN), National Front of Catalonia, Catalan Communist Collective and independents linked to social movements. Its structure was based in local assemblies, and claimed the right to self-determination of Catalonia within a confederal Catalan Countries. NE also defined itself as national-popular and socialist. The party attracted activist from social movements, specially environmentalists, feminists, gays, youth, etc. The most representative were Jordi Carbonell, Josep Maria Espinàs, Magda Oranich, Avel·lí Artís i Gener and Armand de Fluvià. NE disbanded in 1984.
The People's Unity Assembly was an independentist organisation and movement active between 1993 and 1996. The AUP was created by the Movement for Defence of the Land-IDP Faction (MDT-IDP), militants of La Crida, different local political organisations and independents. The AUP was close to the Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC). The AUP had the support of the mayors of Arbúcies and Sant Pere de Ribes.

Left Bloc for National Liberation was a coalition and, later, political party in Catalonia and the Valencian Country, Spain. BEAN was an independentist and socialist party, that defended a Socialist Federal Republic of the Catalan Countries.
United to Advance is a Catalan centrist and christian democratic political party founded in June 2017 by former members of the defunct Democratic Union of Catalonia (UDC) and non-independentist catalan nationalists. The party defines itself as moderate Catalan nationalist and opposes Catalan independence.

He was previously Minister of Education, a member of the European Parliament and a member of Barcelona City Council (BCC).
Maria Dolors Sabater i Puig is a Catalan teacher, social activist and politician. She was mayor of Badalona from 2015 to 2018, and elected to the Parliament of Catalonia in 2021.
