Unlucky Morpheus is a Japanese symphonic power metal band formed in 2008. It consists of vocalist; Fuki and Kasumi, Lyricist; Fuki, [1] Guitarists; Shiren and Jinya, Bassist; Ogawa Hiroyuki, Drummer; Fumiya Morishita, Violinist; Jill. [2] Their latest album "Evolution" was released in 2022. [3]

History

Unlucky Morpheus was formed in 2008 by Fuki (vocals) and Shiren (guitar) after having met the year prior. [4]

On October 3, 2008, the band released their first mini-album, Hypothetical Box, an arrangement album of compositions from the Touhou Project series, at the dōjin event "M3" on a home made CD-R. [5]

The band released their first professionally pressed CD, REBIRTH, at the dōjin event "Touhou Jinja Reitaisai" on March 8, 2009. [5] Later that year on October 12 they played their first live show at Tamachi CUBE (田町CUBE). [5] [6]

On January 6, 2011, they performed their final show of the "Fuyu no Mikaku no Tabearuki 2010→2011" tour at Shibuya O-EAST. This show was recorded and released as their first live album Fuyumika Tabearuki Final ~Lunatic East~ LIVE (ふゆみか食べ歩きファイナル ～Lunatic East～ LIVE) on both CD and DVD on 2011-05-08. [5] [7]

On August 16, 2014, the band released the album affected, their first to consist entirely of original compositions. [5]

The band released their first music video, "Black Pentagram", on April 9, 2017, on YouTube to promote their EP of the same name released on December 29, 2016. [5] [8]

On September 19, 2018, the band released the album CHANGE OF GENERATION, their first release to chart, peaking at 26 on the Oricon charts. [9]

The sub-unit, "QUADRATUM From Unlucky Morpheus" (composed of Jinya, Jill, Hiroyuki Ogawa and FUMIYA), released their first album, Loud Playing Workshop on January 27, 2021. It featured covers of popular heavy metal songs, including a violin cover of Eddie Van Halen's Eruption. [10]

Kurutta Taiyou is the sixth studio album by the Japanese rock band Buck-Tick. It was released on cassette and CD on February 21, 1991, through Victor Entertainment. The album was digitally remastered and re-released on September 19, 2002, with two bonus tracks. It was remastered and re-released again on September 5, 2007. "Speed", "M・A・D" and "Jupiter" were later re-recorded for the group's compilation album Koroshi no Shirabe: This Is Not Greatest Hits (1992).

D'erlanger is a Japanese rock band from Kyoto Prefecture, formed in 1983 by guitarist Cipher and bassist Seela. While they originally played speed and power metal, after recruiting drummer Tetsu and vocalist Kyo they switched to a punk rock sound for their debut album La Vie En Rose in 1989. Although it was on an indie label, it sold out and was reissued three times that year, earning them a major label record deal with BMG Japan the following year. They released Basilisk in March 1990 and it reached the top five on the charts. However, in December the group suddenly announced their disbandment.

Outrage is a Japanese thrash metal band, formed in Nagoya in 1982. They made their debut in 1987 with a lineup of Yosuke Abe on guitar, Yoshihiro Yasui on bass, Shinya Tange on drums and Naoki Hashimoto on vocals. Hashimoto left the band in 1999, but the group continued as a three piece and he returned in 2007. With a career spanning over four decades, Outrage are one of few Japanese metal bands to have never disbanded or paused activities.

Syu is a Japanese musician, best known as leader and guitarist of the power metal band Galneryus. He also performs guitar and lead vocals in Spinalcord and was formerly a member of Animetal. Under his own name, Syu has released one studio album, one cover album and one instrumental album, each featuring collaborations with many guest musicians. He was voted Best Guitarist in online music magazine Beeast's music awards four years in a row, from 2015 to 2018. His work on Galneryus' song "Emotions" was named the 73rd best guitar instrumental by Young Guitar Magazine in 2019.

9mm Parabellum Bullet is a Japanese rock band, formed in March 2004 in Yokohama. It consists of vocalist and rhythm guitarist Takuro Sugawara, guitarist and backing vocalist Yoshimitsu Taki, bassist Kazuhiko Nakamura, and drummer Chihiro Kamijo, who came up with the band's name. Piano pieces included in some songs are performed by Taki, while the characteristic shouts are provided by Nakamura.
