Utowana Lake is a lake in the Eckford Chain in the Adirondack Mountains of the state of New York. It is connected to Eagle Lake and Blue Mountain Lake to the east and the Marion River/Raquette Lake to the west. It was owned by adventure writer Ned Buntline in 1867 and by William West Durant in 1888 before being purchased by mining magnate Berthold Hochschild in 1904. A significant part of the north shore is still owned by the Hochschild family as part of the Eagle Nest camp; the rest is under conservation easements.

Fishing

Fish species present in Utowana Lake are brook trout, white sucker, sunfish, black bullhead, atlantic salmon, yellow perch, and smallmouth bass. Access via channel from Eagle Lake. [2]

Adirondack Experience, located on NY-30 in the hamlet of Blue Mountain Lake in Hamilton County, New York, is a museum dedicated to preserving the history of the Adirondacks. The museum is located on the site of an historic summer resort hotel, the Blue Mountain House, built high above Blue Mountain Lake in 1876 by Miles Tyler Merwin, that operated until the late 1940s. The museum consists of 23 buildings, 121 acres, and 60,000 square feet of exhibition space. The opening of a brand new 19,000 square foot exhibition, Life in the Adirondacks, took place July 2017.

The Eckford Chain of lakes is composed of Blue Mountain Lake, Eagle Lake, and Utowana Lake in the Adirondack Mountains in New York. The chain was named for Henry Eckford, a noted engineer and ship builder who made a survey of the lakes in 1811. All of the lakes are located in the town of Indian Lake, in Hamilton County.

Blue Mountain Lake is a 1,334-acre (540 ha) lake in Hamilton County, New York, in the central Adirondacks. Blue Mountain Lake is the eastern end of the Eckford chain of lakes. It is located west of Blue Mountain. The hamlet of Blue Mountain Lake lies on its southeastern shore and the Adirondack Museum looks down from high above its eastern shore. It has been a popular vacation destination since the mid-19th century.

Indian Lake is a 12-mile (19 km) long, 4,255-acre (1,722 ha) reservoir with a southwest to northeast orientation in the towns of Indian Lake and Lake Pleasant in Hamilton County, in the Adirondack Park of New York State, in the United States. The hamlet of Indian Lake is located 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the north end of Indian Lake. New York State Route 30 runs along the west shore of the lake. Most of the shore is part of the Forest Preserve. Indian Lake is fed by the Jessup River, and drains through the Indian River into Lake Abanakee, and from there through the Indian River to the Hudson River.

Schroon Lake is located near Schroon Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are lake trout, landlocked salmon, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, chain pickerel, rock bass, sunfish, and brown bullhead. There are three access points on the lake. One is a state owned hard surface ramp off US-9, just north of the hamlet of Pottersville. The second is a state owned hand launch access at the Eagle Point Campground off US-9, 2 miles north of the hamlet of Pottersville. The third is a village owned public beach launch access off US-9, in the village of Schroon Lake.

Eagle Lake is a 180-acre lake in the Adirondacks of New York. Eagle Lake is part of the Eckford Chain, and is the central lake of the chain, with Blue Mountain Lake and Utowana Lake. It is the site of Eagle Nest camp, a historic Adirondack Great Camp built in 1937.

Eagle Nest is an Adirondack Great Camp built in 1938 for Kathrine and Walter Hochschild on the north shore of Eagle Lake.

Lake Rondaxe is a lake located northeast of Carter Station, New York. Fish species present in the lake are Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, brook trout, yellow perch, and black bullhead. There is no public access.

Fourth Lake is located near Eagle Bay, New York and Inlet, New York. Fourth Lake is part of the Fulton Chain Lakes. Fish species present in the lake are lake trout, atlantic salmon, landlocked salmon, white sucker, brook trout, rainbow trout, yellow perch, and brown trout. Hard surface ramp on Route 28, 10 miles east of Old Forge and there is a hand launch access on South Shore Road.

Bubb Lake is located west of Eagle Bay, New York. The outlet creek flows into North Branch Moose River. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, and brown bullhead. There is carry down access trail off Route 28.

Chub Lake is located west of Raquette Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are black bullhead, and brook trout. There is trail access on the south and west shore from the north shore of Constable Pond. No motors are allowed on Chub Lake.

Lake Durant is located 3 miles east of Blue Mountain Lake, New York. It has an area of 289 acres and an elevation of 1769 feet. Fish species present in the lake are largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, tiger muskie, black bullhead, yellow perch, and pumpkinseed sunfish. There is a state owned hard surface ramp on NY-28/NY-30, 3 miles east of Blue Mountain Lake in the campground. There is a day use fee.

Cedar Lake is located northwest of Sled Harbor, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, black bullhead, and white sucker. There is trail access on the north and west shores from Sled Harbor. There is also trail access to Whitney Lake. No motors are allowed on this lake.

Fall Lake is located north of Piseco, New York. Fish species present in the lake are rock bass, white sucker, black bullhead, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and pickerel. There is carry down access on Fall Stream off Old Piseco Road on land owned by the Irondequoit Club.

Lizard Pond is located in the Adirondack Mountains southwest of Garnet Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, and black bullhead. There is carry down trail access off Garnet Lake on the southeast shore.
