Lake Pleasant is a lake located in the Adirondack Park in New York in the United States. The lake is in the town of Lake Pleasant in Hamilton County.
Massawepie Lake is a lake located in the town of Piercefield, in southern St. Lawrence County, New York, approximately 12 miles (19 km) southwest of the village of Tupper Lake, New York. The lake is also surrounded by the Massawepie Scout Camps. The name of the lake is of Iroquois origin, meaning "the beaver's lake". The outlet flows west into the South Branch Grass River.
William West Durant (1850–1934) was a designer and developer of camps in the Adirondack Great Camp style, including Camp Uncas, Camp Pine Knot and Great Camp Sagamore which are National Historic Landmarks. He was the son of Thomas C. Durant, the financier and railroad promoter who was behind the Crédit Mobilier scandal.
Adirondack Experience, located on NY-30 in the hamlet of Blue Mountain Lake in Hamilton County, New York, is a museum dedicated to preserving the history of the Adirondacks. The museum is located on the site of an historic summer resort hotel, the Blue Mountain House, built high above Blue Mountain Lake in 1876 by Miles Tyler Merwin, that operated until the late 1940s. The museum consists of 23 buildings, 121 acres, and 60,000 square feet of exhibition space. The opening of a brand new 19,000 square foot exhibition, Life in the Adirondacks, took place July 2017.
The Eckford Chain of lakes is composed of Blue Mountain Lake, Eagle Lake, and Utowana Lake in the Adirondack Mountains in New York. The chain was named for Henry Eckford, a noted engineer and ship builder who made a survey of the lakes in 1811. All of the lakes are located in the town of Indian Lake, in Hamilton County.
Blue Mountain Lake is a 1,334-acre (540 ha) lake in Hamilton County in the central Adirondacks. Blue Mountain Lake is the eastern end of the Eckford chain of lakes. It is located west of Blue Mountain. The hamlet of Blue Mountain Lake lies on its southeastern shore and the Adirondack Museum looks down from high above its eastern shore. It has been a popular vacation destination since the mid-19th century.
Waneta Lake is a small lake in the Finger Lakes region of the state of New York in the United States. The lake straddles the border of Schuyler County and Steuben County, and is within the towns of Tyrone and Wayne. Waneta Lake is 3.5 miles long (north-to-south) and half a mile wide (east-to-west), and lies just east of the southern branch of Keuka Lake. Despite its location in the Finger Lakes region, it is not counted as one of the eleven Finger Lakes.
The Marion River is a 4.5-mile (7.2 km) river that connects Blue Mountain Lake via Utowana Lake and Eagle Lake to Raquette Lake in Hamilton County in the central Adirondacks. New York State has classified the Marion as a Scenic River.
Indian Lake is a 12-mile (19 km) long, 4,255-acre (1,722 ha) reservoir with a southwest to northeast orientation in the towns of Indian Lake and Lake Pleasant in Hamilton County, in the Adirondack Park of New York State, in the United States. The hamlet of Indian Lake is located 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the north end of Indian Lake. New York State Route 30 runs along the west shore of the lake. Most of the shore is part of the Forest Preserve. Indian Lake is fed by the Jessup River, and drains through the Indian River into Lake Abanakee, and from there through the Indian River to the Hudson River.
Utowana Lake is a lake in the Eckford Chain, Adirondacks, NY. It is connected to Eagle Lake and Blue Mountain Lake to the East and the Marion River/Raquette Lake to the West. It was owned by adventure writer Ned Buntline in 1867 and by William West Durant in 1888 before being purchased by mining magnate Berthold Hochschild in 1904. A significant part of the North shore is still owned by the Hochschild family as part of the Eagle Nest camp; the rest is under conservation easements.
Sacandaga Lake (sa-kuhn-DAH-ga) is a lake in the Town of Lake Pleasant in Hamilton County, New York approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Speculator. The outlet is a channel that leads to Lake Pleasant, which is the source of the Sacandaga River.
East Caroga Lake is located in the Town of Caroga by Caroga Lake, New York. The lake provides excellent warm water fishing and rainbow trout fishing. The lake is connected to West Caroga Lake by a small channel. Origin of the name, "Caroga" is derived from the once nearby Indian Village known as "Caroga".
West Caroga Lake is located in the Town of Caroga by Caroga Lake, New York. The lake is known for excellent warm water fishing, but it also offers the only location to fish for splake in the county. The lake is connected to East Caroga Lake by a small channel. Origin of the name, "Caroga" is derived from the once nearby Indian Village known as "Caroga".
North Lake is a lake located by Atwell, New York and is the source of the Black River. North Lake is one of several lakes in Herkimer County that has a medium acid content, and is therefore not a big fish producer. The fish species present are tiger muskie, white sucker, perch, and bullhead. Boating is permitted, limited to a small gravel based boat launch in Atwell.
Eagles Nest Lake is located east of Inlet, New York. The outlet creek flows into Seventh Lake. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, and lake trout. There is access by trail from Eighth Lake Campground.
Upper Sargent Pond is located west of Blue Mountain Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, white sucker, smallmouth bass, black bullhead, yellow perch, and sunfish. There is access by trail off North Point Road, 6 miles west of Deerland, New York.
Sprague Pond is located southeast of Blue Mountain Lake, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brown trout, golden shiner, and sunfish. There is a carry down via trail off CR-12, on the south shore. No motors are allowed on this lake.
Cedar Lake is located northwest of Sled Harbor, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, black bullhead, and white sucker. There is trail access on the north and west shores from Sled Harbor. There is also trail access to Whitney Lake. No motors are allowed on this lake.
Rock Lake is a lake located southeast of Clockmill Corners, New York. Fish species present in the lake are brown bullhead, chain pickerel, brook trout, and sunfish large mouth bass yellow perch northern pike. There is trail access off Powley-Piseco Road along the west shore.
