The Uttar Pradesh Wizards (abbreviated as UPW) are a professional field hockey team based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh that plays in the Hockey India League. It is owned by Sahara India Pariwar. Former Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans serves as coach for the team and former Indian captain Dhanraj Pillay acts as the technical director of the team. [1]
The team is owned by Sahara Adventure Sports Limited, a group company of Sahara India, bought the franchise on 23 July 2012. [2] Sahara India is also the chief sponsor of Hockey India, the top-federation for hockey in India. [2] This was the first franchise of Hockey India League to be bought. [2] In December 2014, Suresh Raina becomes the co-owner of Uttar Pradesh Wizards. [3]

Mohammad Kaif is a former Indian cricketer, who played Tests and ODIs. He made it to the national team on the strength of his performances at the Under-19 level, where he captained the India national under-19 cricket team to victory in the Under-19 World Cup in 2000. With India, Kaif was a member of the Indian team that was one of the joint-winners of the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, which the title was also shared with Sri Lanka, and was a member of the team that were runners-up in the 2003 Cricket World Cup. He is regarded as one of the greatest fielders of all time along with Yuvraj Singh.

Suresh Raina is an Indian former international cricketer. He occasionally served as stand-in captain for Indian men's national cricket team as well as in IPL for Chennai Super Kings during the absence of the main captain. He played for Uttar Pradesh (UP) in domestic cricket circuit. He is an aggressive left-handed middle-order batsman and an occasional off-spin bowler. He is the second-youngest player ever to captain India. He was the captain of Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and he also served as vice-captain of the Chennai Super Kings. He is the first Indian batsman to hit a century in all three formats of international cricket. During his time with India, he won the 2011 Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Raina made history being the first Indian to score a century in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which he did with his 101 runs against South Africa at the 2010 Tournament.
Kunwar Digvijay Singh, popularly known as "Babu", was an Indian field hockey player. He was born in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. He is widely known for his mesmerising passing ability and is considered by many to be the greatest dribbler of the game comparable only to Dhyan Chand.
Parattu Raveendran Sreejesh is an Indian field hockey player from Kerala who plays as a goalkeeper and former captain of the Indian national team.He is regarded as the World's best goal keeper of his generation. He plays in the Hockey India League for Uttar Pradesh Wizards. Sreejesh played a vital role in the Indian national team's bronze medal win at the 2020 Summer Olympics men's field hockey tournament. He won FIH Player of the Year Awards (2020–21) for best male goalkeeper. Since winning gold in 2014 Asian Games he won gold medal again in 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. He won a total of 16 international medals in his career until 2023 from Olympics, FIH Hockey World Championships, Commonwealth Games, Asian tournaments combined.
Pune Warriors India were a franchise Twenty20 cricket team that represented the city of Pune in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team was one of two IPL franchises from the Indian state of Maharashtra, the other being Mumbai Indians. It was one of two new franchises added to the IPL for the 2011 season, alongside the also-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala. It is owned by Patel-Uniexcel Group. South African Gregg Clark is the head coach for the team assisted by Olympian Baljit Singh Saini. German midfielder, two time Olympic champion, Moritz Fürste is the captain of the team. It was dissolved in 2014 after its owners had some dispute with HIL management. It has been replaced by Ranchi Rays.
