Vaishno Academy is an Indian film production company established by Tollywood director Puri Jagannadh. The company is based in Hyderabad.

Description

In 2002 Vaishno Academy produced its first production, Idiot . It was remade into Tamil and Hindi. Vaishno Academy produced Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi and Sivamani in 2003 and 143 (and I Miss You) in 2004. This film didn't do well at box office. In 2006 Pokiri was highest grosser of Vaishno Academy's films and highest grossing Telugu film of all time. [1]

The plot revolves around a local goon whose killer instincts earn him not only his girlfriend's disapproval and a corrupt cop's enmity but also the attention of a wanted don.

Petla "Puri" Jagannadh is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer, who works primarily in the Telugu film Industry. He made his directorial debut with the Telugu film Badri starring Pawan Kalyan, Renu Desai and Ameesha Patel. In 2006, he directed the Telugu film Pokiri, premiered at the 7th IIFA Film Festival held in Dubai. Asin had her first commercial success with the Telugu film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi (2003). For her performance as a Tamil girl in the film, she received the Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award. In the same year she won the Santosham Best Actress Award for her role in Telugu film Sivamani. In her next two Telugu releases: Lakshmi Narasimha (2004) and Gharshana (2004), Asin played the love interest of a police officer. Lakshmi Narasimha was a commercial success, while Gharshana received mixed reviews from critics but later gained a cult following.
