Vale of Leithen Football Club are a football club based in the town of Innerleithen, Scotland. They play in the East of Scotland League Second Division, and their home games take place at Victoria Park.

Contents

The team's motto is "Keep Faith", and features on their club crest, along with the town's patron saint, St. Ronan. The home strip features a blue shirt, navy blue shorts and navy blue socks; the away strip is a yellow shirt, with blue trim.

Vale of Leithen should not be confused with the slightly differently named West of Scotland team Vale of Leven.

History

The club is one of the oldest in the Scottish Borders, having formed in 1891, they became full members of the Scottish Football Association in 1897. The club played at Caddon Park and initially played their first two games as Leithen Vale but subsequently changed their name to Vale of Leithen Football Club. In 1922, they moved to their current home, Victoria Park.

The club were founding members of the Lowland Football League in 2013–14, having previously played in the East of Scotland Football League. Their best finishing position was 6th place in their first campaign, spending nine seasons in the league before being relegated back to the East of Scotland League at the end of the 2021–22 season, and suffering consecutive relegations in the subsequent two seasons.

The 2012–13 Scottish Cup was the 128th season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The tournament began on 4 August 2012 and ended on 26 May 2013. The league sits at level 5 on the Scottish football league system, acting as a feeder to the Scottish Professional Football League, and is above three regional leagues at level 6.

The 2022–23 Scottish Lowland Football League was the 10th season of the Lowland Football League, part of the fifth tier of the Scottish football pyramid system. Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic were the reigning champions, but were unable to defend their title following their promotion to Scottish League Two.

Polton Vale Football Club was a football club from the town of Loanhead, Midlothian, Scotland. The club played in the Scottish Cup in the 1890s and had some success at local level, but was thrown off the club register in 1902.
