The West Coast Conference (WCC) — known as the California Basketball Association from 1953 to 1956 and then as the West Coast Athletic Conference until 1989 — is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I consisting of ten member schools across the states of California, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
Eric Wilson "Hank" Gathers Jr. was an American college basketball player for the Loyola Marymount Lions in the West Coast Conference (WCC). As a junior in 1989, he became the second player in NCAA Division I history to lead the nation in scoring and rebounding in the same season. Gathers was a consensus second-team All-American as a senior in 1990. His No. 44 was retired by the Lions, who also placed a statue of him in his honor outside their home arena Gersten Pavilion.
Suzy Batkovic is an Australian professional basketball player and politician. Suzy played her junior basketball with the Port Hunter Basketball Club in Newcastle. She has played basketball for several European clubs including the French Valenciennes, the Spanish side Ros Casares, the Russian side UMMC Ekaterinburg, and Italian side Cras Basket. In the United States, she has played for the Seattle Storm after having been selected as a first round draft pick in 2003. She has played professional basketball domestically for the Australian Institute of Sport in 1996–1999, the Sydney Uni Flames from 1999–2001, and 2009–2010, the Townsville Fire in 2001–2002, the Canberra Capitals in 2010–2011, and the Adelaide Lightning in 2011–2013; she returned to the Fire for the 2013–14 season. She has been a member of the Australia women's national basketball team, being named to the team for the first time in 1999. She won a silver medal with the team at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2008 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The University of Canberra Capitals are an Australian professional women's basketball team competing in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). The team is based in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. In 2014 the University of Canberra Union took control of the Capitals from Basketball ACT. The University of Canberra is the current naming rights sponsor for the Capitals.

As a member of the Australia women's national basketball team, she has won a gold medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Abby Bishop is an Australian professional basketball forward/center who plays for Southside Flyers of the Australian WNBL. She has played for the Australian Institute of Sport from 2005–2006, the Canberra Capitals from 2006–2010, Dandenong Rangers from 2010–2011 Canberra Capitals. She is currently a member of the Adelaide Lightning (2016/2017). She is a member of the Australia women's national basketball team and won a gold medal during the 2007 Oceania World Qualifications series and a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

The regular season begins on the weekend of November 11, with the conference schedule starting on December 29.

The Lions competed in the West Coast Conference and played their home games at Gersten Pavilion. They finished the season 11–23, 1–15 in WCC play to finish in last place. Despite only winning only one conference game during the regular season, they won three games during the WCC Tournament to advance to the semifinals where they lost to #1 Gonzaga.
The 2012–13 Santa Clara Broncos men's basketball team represented the University of Santa Clara during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was head coach Kerry Keating's sixth season at Santa Clara. The Broncos played their home games at the Leavey Center and were members of the West Coast Conference. They finished the season 26–12, 9–7 in WCC play to finish in fourth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the WCC Tournament to Loyola Marymount. They were invited to the 2013 College Basketball Invitational where they defeated Vermont, Purdue and Wright State to advance to the best-of-three games finals against George Mason. They won the series 2 games to 1 to become the 2013 CBI Champions. Santa Clara is the first school to win a CBI championship and a CIT championship.
Samantha Frances Norwood is an Australian basketball player playing for the Canberra Capitals in 2012/13. She previously had played for the West Coast Waves in the Women's National Basketball League. She played for Stony Brook University for a year.

Matthew James Knight is an Australian former professional basketball player who played the majority of his 10-year career with the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League (NBL). Knight, a native of Tasmania, began playing basketball in his hometown of Burnie as a youth. After a year at the Australian Institute of Sport in 2003, Knight ventured to the United States where he played four years of college basketball for Loyola Marymount University (LMU).
Charity Dawn Elliott is an American basketball coach currently serving as the head women's basketball coach at Point Loma Nazarene University. She was the women's basketball team head coach at Loyola Marymount University from 2012 to 2021. She has previously been the women's head basketball coach at Portland State, UC San Diego, and California Baptist.
