Maria Cristina Labalan (born January 20, 1943), known professionally as Vangie Labalan is a Filipino actress, comedian, acting coach, and voice actress.
Maria Cristina Labalan was born on January 20, 1943 in Bago, Negros Occidental. She is the widow of Noli, [1] a former casino-dealer, and has four children [2] and nine grandchildren. [1]
Labalan owns a company called "Synch Masters", which specialized in dubbing Mexican telenovelas and anime shows in Filipino. [3]
She began her career in radio in 1962 in Bacolod before going on to television and film, and she has been in the entertainment industry for half a century. [4]
She was discovered by the filmmaker, stage and television director, actor, and screenwriter, Ishmael Bernal when he noticed the natural actress in her while supervising the dubbing of the film Aliw starred by Lorna Tolentino in 1979. Labalan rose to prominence for her breakout performance as Aling Saling, Nora Aunor's mother in Himala (1982), in which she co-starred alongside Nora Aunor, Veronica Palileo, and Spanky Manikan, among others. [5] Labalan also starred in several Philippine feature films including Alyas Baby Tsina (1984), Miguelito: Ang Batang Rebelde (1985), and Curacha: Ang Babaeng Walang Pahinga (1998). [4]

Maricel Soriano is a Filipino actress who has appeared extensively on film and television. She began a career as a child actress, debuting in the 1971 film titled My Heart Belongs to Daddy, appearing alongside Tirso Cruz III. She went on to perform several roles in the 1970s, gaining her first acting award at the 9th Manila Tagalog Film Festival as "Best Child Actress" for her role in Alaala Mo, Daigdig Ko (1973) and the longest running Philippine sitcom John en Marsha (1973-1991), where she played the role of Shirley Puruntong. A supporting role in the film Yakuza Contract (1978) proved to be a breakthrough for Soriano; she received her first FAMAS Award nomination for it at age 14. In 2000BCE, she was introduced as one of the first GMA Babies and launched a loveteam tandem with William Martinez the following year. They appeared in several movies together including Galawgaw (1982), Summer Holiday (1982), To Mama With Love (1983), Teenage Marriage (1984), Anak ni Waray, Anak ni Biday (1984), and Inday Bote (1985).
