Vartika Brij Nath Singh is an Indian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was appointed as Miss Universe India 2019 and represented India at the 68th edition of the Miss Universe pageant. [1] She was previously crowned as Femina Miss India Femina Miss India Grand International in 2015. [2] The GQ magazine had ranked her among the hottest women of India in 2017. [3] [4]

Early life and education

Singh was educated at the Canossa Convent School in Lucknow. [5] She received her bachelor's degree in Clinical nutrition and dietetics from Isabella Thoburn College. [6] She holds a master's degree in Public health from the University of Lucknow. [7]

Career and pageantry

Singh competed at the Miss Diva 2014 pageant, where she placed in the top 7. She also won the 'Miss Photogenic' award at the contest. [8] In 2015, she competed at the 52nd edition of the Femina Miss India pageant and was crowned Femina Miss Grand India 2015. [9]

Singh represented India at Miss Grand International 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand and won the 2nd runner-up title. Four years after the pageant was held, the original winner was dethroned and the first runner-up from Australia assumed the title; the new winner was later dethroned too by the pageant making India the assumed winner of Miss Grand 2015. [13] [14] [15] [16] [2] She also won the 'Best Social Media' award and placed in the Top 10 of Miss Popular Vote and Top 20 in Best National Costume sub-contests. [17] Her finale gown was designed by Shane and Falguni Peacock and her national costume was designed by Malvika Tater. [18]

In 2016, her interview and the photoshoot was published in the January edition of the GQ (India) magazine. [3] The magazine also ranked her among the hottest women of India in 2016. [19] She competed in the Kingfisher Model Hunt contest in 2017 and was featured on the Kingfisher bikini calendar's March and October pages. [20] [21]

She has contributed as a technical adviser to a health-based government project in association with the World Bank. [22] In 2018, Vartika Singh founded a non-profit organization called 'Pure Humans'. As a Public health professional, she aims to create and spread awareness about Public health-related issues in the country. Vartika has been working with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to create awareness and educate the communities about Tuberculosis. [23] She has also been working with the Smile Train Organization in India as a Goodwill Ambassador, to provide aid and treatment to children born with cleft lip and cleft palate. [24] [25]

On 26 September 2019, Vartika was appointed as Miss Universe India 2019, since there was no Miss Diva pageant conducted in 2019. She represented India at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant held in Atlanta, Georgia on 8 December 2019, and placed in the Top 20. She ended India's consecutive unplacement streak at Miss Universe. The second edition of Miss Diva was held on 14 October 2014. Fifteen contestants were shortlisted from thousands of aspirants in the country, who were mentored by Miss Universe 2000, Lara Dutta. At the end of the event, Miss Universe India 2013, Manasi Moghe crowned Noyonita Lodh as her successor. She represented India India at the Miss Universe 2014 pageant held in Doral, Florida, USA on 25 January 2015. At the same event, Alankrita Sahai was crowned as Miss Diva - Earth 2014 and Asha Bhat was crowned as Miss Diva - Supranational 2014.

The Miss Diva is a part of Femina Miss India pageant that primarily selected India's representatives to Miss Universe, one of the Big Four major international beauty pageants. The pageant also sends representative to Miss Supranational.

Miss Earth India or Miss India Earth is a title given to the Indian woman who represents India at Miss Earth, an annual, international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. The current national pageant which chooses the Indian representative for Miss Earth is Miss Divine Beauty of India.

The grand finale of the third edition of Miss Diva was held on October 14, 2015. 16 contestants vied for the title and the chance to represent India at the Miss Universe beauty pageant. Urvashi Rautela was crowned Miss Diva 2015, while Natasha Assadi and Naveli Deshmukh were crowned 1st and 2nd Runners Up respectively. The pageant was aired on Romedy Now from 12 October to 18 October 2015. It was also telecast on Zoom and Zee Cafe.

The 53rd edition of the Femina Miss India beauty pageant was held on 9 April 2016 in Mumbai. Twenty-one contestants competed for the titles of Femina Miss India 2016. Aditi Arya crowned Priyadarshini Chatterjee as her successor. She represented India at Miss World 2016, Sushruthi Krishna was crowned as the 1st Runner Up by Aafreen Vaz, and Pankhuri Gidwani was crowned as the 2nd Runner Up by Vartika Singh.

The 6th edition of Miss Diva took place on 31 August 2018. Top 19 contestants selected from all over the country competed in the pageant, who were mentored by Miss Universe 2000, Lara Dutta. At the end of the event, Miss Universe India 2017, Shraddha Shashidhar crowned Nehal Chudasama as her successor. She represented India at the 67th Miss Universe 2018 pageant held in Bangkok, Thailand on 16 December 2018. At the same event, Aditi Hundia was crowned as Miss Diva - Supranational 2018 and Roshni Sheoran was crowned as Runner-up. Miss Universe 2017, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was a member of the jury. Miss Diva 2020 was the 8th edition of the Miss Diva beauty pageant held on February 22, 2020. A total of 20 contestants were shortlisted from various auditions across the country. Vartika Singh crowned Adline Castelino as her successor and she represented India at Miss Universe 2020. Shefali Sood crowned Aavriti Choudhary as her successor and she represented India at Miss Supranational 2021. Miss Diva 2018 Runner up Roshni Sheoran crowned Neha Jaiswal as her successor. Anntonia Porsild, Miss Supranational 2019 graced the event. This was the first edition of Miss Diva under Liva Fluid Fashion.

Shivani Jadhav is an Indian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Femina Miss Grand India 2019 at the grand finale of Femina Miss India 2019 by the outgoing titleholder Meenakshi Chaudhary. She represented India at Miss Grand International 2019 pageant which was held in Venezuela on 25 October 2019.

Miss Diva 2019 was the 7th edition of the Miss Diva beauty pageant held on 26 September 2019. Miss Universe India 2018, Nehal Chudasama crowned Vartika Singh as her successor. Shefali Sood was crowned as Miss Supranational India 2019 by her predecessor, Aditi Hundia and she represented India at Miss Supranational 2019 held in Poland.
