Venugopal Kuppanna Rajuk known as Venugopal K. R. (VKR) was born on 26 March 1956 in Bangalore. His father,Muniswamappa Kuppanna,a farmer worked in Indian Telephone Industries Bangalore,mother Narayanappa Muniyamma was a home maker. He was former Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University, [3] Principal of University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE), [4] He was also the chairman,Department of Electronics and Communication,Computer Science Engineering and Information Science Engineering in University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE). He has served UVCE as well as Bangalore University for the last five decades. [5] UVCE has been affiliated to Bangalore University since 1964. Dr. Venugopal K R was the Special Officer to the Government of Karnataka for Trifurcating Bangalore University. He submitted the report on 26 March 2015 for restructuring Bangalore University into Bangalore University,Bengaluru City University and Bengaluru North University and UVCE to be carved out as Center of Excellence on the model of Indian Institute of Technology. UVCE was granted autonomy by a bill tabled in Karnataka assembly and now UVCE is an autonomous institution with effect from 25 March 2022.
Prof Venugopal K R holds PhD in economics from the Bangalore University,Bengaluru and also a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM),Chennai. He graduated from the Indian Institute Science (IISc),Bengaluru with an ME degree. He got his BE degree from UVCE in the field of Electronics and Communication. Along with these,he has also obtained degree in more than 10 fields including Economics,Finance,Law,Public Relations and so on. Prof Venugopal K R has 1062 research publications, [15] [16] authored and edited 84 books and has been granted 37 patents, [17] with over 6700 citations and google scholar h-index of 38 [18] [19] focusing mainly on the subjects of Economics and Computer Science. He has awarded PhDs to 30 students and has also guided informally more than 150 Research scholars. He has received many awards and titles including IEEE Fellow (2016) ACM Distinguished Educator Award, [20] Anna University National Award,IEEE Best Branch Counsellor,Karnataka State Government Award,UP State National Award and others.[ citation needed ]
University of Vishveshvarayya College of Engineering (UVCE) was established in 1917,under the name Government Engineering College,by Bharat Ratna Sir M. Vishveshvarayya. It is the 5th engineering college to be established in the country and 1st in Karnataka. UVCE is one of the few technical institutions in the country that is vested with the status of a university and autonomy on the lines of IITs. It is one of the oldest technical institutions in the country,imparting technical education leading to B.Tech.,B. Arch.,M.Tech.,M. Arch. and PhD degrees in the various disciplines of Engineering and Architecture. The college is approved by the AICTE and the Government of Karnataka. UVCE has secured an NAAC accreditation score of 3.75. UVCE,while a constituent college of Bangalore University until 2022,secured an NIRF ranking of 64. The college used to receive financial aid under the TEQIP program from the World Bank.
Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering is an autonomous private engineering college in Bangalore,Karnataka,India. Ahson graduated from University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. He was a National Merit Scholarship Award,India (1959–1965). He also won a British Council Overseas Scholarship Award for Ph.D. (1973–1975). He later taught in Saudi Arabia and India. His recent posting was at Patna University,Bihar as pro-Vice chancellor. While there he enacted educational reforms amide political chaos and bureaucracy.
Dwarkadas Prahladadas Kothari is an educationist and professor who has held leadership positions at engineering institutions in India including IIT Delhi,Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology,Nagpur and VIT University,Vellore. The dewan of Mysore was the de facto chief executive officer of the Government of Mysore,ex officio chairman of the Dewan's Council,and the prime minister and royal adviser to the maharaja of Mysore. Pai is the first India born scientist to be awarded a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of California,Berkeley.
