Veronika Habelok (Ukrainian : Вероніка Габелок, born 2 December 2001 [1] in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi) is a Ukrainian female acrobatic gymnast and professional hand-balancer. [2]

Career

She began doing acrobatic gymnastics in 2008 at age six.

In 2014, Habelok with her partner Irina Nazimova firstly competed at the international tournament, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Youth Sports School. [3]

The following years, the duo competed at the 2016 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships, finishing 7th in the pairs all-around event in final. [4]

At the 2017 Acrobatic Gymnastics European Championships Habelok and Nazimova finished 4th in the pairs all-around event. [5]

Later, the duo won a bronze medal in the pairs all-around event at the 2017 World Games in Wrocław. [6]

During the Russian invasion of Ukraine the duo Habelok/Nazimova left Ukraine through Romanian border and flied to the United States, where they rejoined the Flip Circus. [7]

Angelina Romanovna Melnikova is a Russian artistic gymnast. With eleven Olympic and World medals, she is the joint third-most decorated Russian gymnast of all time. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she led the Russian Olympic Committee to gold in the team competition. She previously represented Russia at the 2016 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in the team competition. On 1 July 2022, at 01:00 am (UTC+3), a Russian missile hit a residential building and two missiles hit a recreational center in Serhiivka, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion, Odesa Oblast. The missile strike killed at least 21 people. July 2 was declared a day of mourning in the region.
