Khas Kunar or Sarkani(sarkano) District is the largest district in the Kunar Province, Afghanistan. It is situated in the southern part of the province and borders Nangarhar Province to the south and Pakistan to the east. The Kunar River passes north through the district and irrigates the surrounding land. The population was estimated to be 31,000 in 2006. The district center, Khas Kunar village is located at 34.6458°N 70.9008°E at 749 m altitude. Most of the houses were destroyed during the wars and droughts also have seriously affected the lands all around the Kunar River. The most influential person from this district was Kabir Stori, who was a Pashtun nationalist.

The Banda Sea Plate is a minor tectonic plate underlying the Banda Sea in southeast Asia. This plate also carries a portion of Sulawesi Island, the entire Seram Island, and the Banda Islands. Clockwise from the east it is bounded by the Bird's Head Plate of western New Guinea, Australian Plate, Timor Plate, Sunda Plate, and the Molucca Sea Collision Zone. The western border is a convergent boundary largely responsible for the mountains in western Sulawesi, subduction zones also exist on the eastern border near Seram and the southern border with the Timor Plate. A small rift is located in the middle of Sulawesi. It is a very seismically active area home to many volcanoes and the site of many large earthquakes, the largest of which was the 1938 Banda Sea earthquake which measured around 8.4 on the moment magnitude scale.

The Battle of Sadhaura was fought between Sikhs and the Mughal, Sayyid, and Shaykh forces in Sadhaura in 1710. The imperial forces were defeated and took refuge behind the city's walls. Banda's forces captured the fort and levelled it to the ground. It resulted in a victory for the Sikhs where Banda Singh Bahadur defeated Osman Khan.
