Vienna Festival Ballet

The Vienna Festival Ballet, is a classical ballet company founded in 1980 [1] by Peter Mallek. Based in the United Kingdom, they typically spend eight months of the year touring small and medium venues around the country, with the occasional foreign trip.

They have been touring the UK since 1980. Their repertoire includes Swan Lake , The Nutcracker , The Sleeping Beauty , Giselle , Cinderella , Coppélia , Othello, La Sylphide , Rhapsody in Blue, An American in Paris , and Bolero (after Bejart). [2]

Biographies

Peter Mallek

Artistic director Peter Mallek trained in Vienna under the Russian teacher Harry Pluciss, a former pupil of the world famous ballet master Pushkin. He performed with the national ballet companies of the world e.g. American Ballet Theatre, London Festival Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Australian Ballet and the Dutch National Ballet. [3]

Melanie Cox

Melanie Cox went to the Arts Educational School, Tring Park, now Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, aged 11. She joined the company after graduation from the school in July 2007. [4]

In 2008 she took part as a visiting professional in the Kent Youth Dance Company production Excerpts and Originals in her home town of Herne Bay, Kent. [5]

Samantha Camejo

Samantha Camejo was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She trained at the Maria Olenewa State Dance School which is part of the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro. She was awarded a scholarship to the London Studio Centre. She joined the company in 2007. [6]

Amy Fussell

Amy Fussell is from Walsall in the West Midlands, England. She joined the company in September 2008, aged 20, after studying for 4 years at the Central School of Ballet in London. A former pupil of Little Bloxwich School in Walsall and Abotts Bromley School for Girls, near Lichfield, she was 4 when she joined the Walsall Academy of Dance in The Butts, Walsall. [7]

Carl Hale

Carl Hale is from Dudley in the West Midlands, England. He joined the company in the summer of 2007, aged 19, after spending three years at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. He was the Jester in Swan Lake on the 2008 tour. [7] graduating in July 2005.

Emily Hufton

Emily Hufton joined the Company in February 2007, aged 19, while completing her final year at Elmhurst Ballet School, which she entered following three years as a Junior Associate of the Royal Ballet School. Emily has twice been a visiting professional at Kent Youth Dance summer schools and worked with the English National Ballet as well as touring with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Phil King

Born in Lancaster and after an early training at the Joan Ward School, he went on to the study at the Rambert School in London. He then performed with Rambert Dance Company, dancing Itzik Galili's A Linha Curva before joining the Vienna Festival Ballet in 2008 as a soloist. in 2009 he danced his first principal as the Nutcracker Prince, and was consequently cast as Siegfried in Swan Lake the following season.

Joseph Mackie-Graves

Joseph joined Vienna Festival Ballet for its 2010 production of 'The Sleeping Beauty'. Originally from Cambridge, Joseph graduated from Ballet West in early 2010 before joining the schools company for its tour to China. Joseph has worked with companies including European Ballet, Ballet West, Belinda King Creative Productions, Fog Productions, NSPCC and Fit To Dance Company.

Dame Catherine Margaret Mary Scott, was a South African-born pioneering ballet dancer who found fame as a teacher, choreographer, and school administrator in Australia. As the first director of the Australian Ballet School, she is recognised as one of the founders of the strong ballet tradition of her adopted country.

The Minnesota Ballet is a ballet company and school located in Duluth, Minnesota. Founded in 1965 by Donna Harkins and Jan Gibson as the Duluth Civic Ballet, the company has since expanded into a touring company with seventeen professional artists. From 1992–2007 the Artistic Executive Director of the Minnesota Ballet was Allen Fields, who retired to become Artistic Director Emirtus. Fields acquired rights to works by master choreographers like Agnes de Mille, Antony Tudor, and George Balanchine. He was succeeded by Robert Gardner. In 2019, Minnesota Ballet welcomed a new Artistic Director, Karl von Rabenau, to lead the company. The Minnesota Ballet is entering its 54th season in 2019/20.

Tracy Li is a South African ballet dancer of Chinese origin. She trained at The Christine Liao School of Ballet before receiving a scholarship from The Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club to study at the Australian Ballet School. At age 16, she joined the Hong Kong Ballet, before she left in 1992 for Durban, South Africa. She joined Napac Dance Company; however, she left the following year to join the Cape Town City Ballet, where she is currently a senior principal. She is known for her partnership with Daniel Rajna and together they have regularly toured as guest artists in Zimbabwe and Hong Kong. They were also both invited to the 2004 Miami Dance Festival. She retired in August 2007 after performances of Camille.

The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre (SPBT) is one of Russia’s leading classical ballet companies. It was founded in 1994 by Konstantin Tachkin, who has continued to direct the company over its 25-year history. The St Petersburg Ballet Theatre is housed in a complex on Liteyniy prospect, situated in the heart of Saint-Petersburg, which in Imperial Russia had served as the House of Officers.

Maria Kowroski is an American ballet dancer. She is a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet.

Kathryn Elizabeth Morgan is an American ballet dancer. She joined New York City Ballet in 2006 and was promoted to the rank of soloist in 2009. Morgan left New York City Ballet in 2012 due to health complications related to her suffering from Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Throughout her recovery, Morgan taught ballet and performed as a guest artist. From 2019 to 2020 she was a soloist at Miami City Ballet.

Carla Körbes is a Brazilian ballet dancer who performed as a principal dancer with the Pacific Northwest Ballet, then became the associate artistic director of L.A Dance Project. She is now an associate professor at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music's ballet faculty.

Ivan Putrov is a Ukrainian-born ballet dancer and producer. He trained at The Kyiv State Choreographic Institute and at The Royal Ballet School. Upon graduation Sir Anthony Dowell invited him to join the Royal Ballet, which he did in September 1998. He has continued to dance with companies around the world, to organize dance events and to teach.

Janet Karin OAM was born in Perth, Australia in 1938. She became one of Australia's leading dancers in 1956, and has danced with the Victorian Ballet Guild, Borovansky Ballet, and was a founding member of The Australian Ballet. She is a Nationally and Internationally recognised dance educator, and is currently the Head of Artistic Studies and Kinetic Educator for the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne, Australia.

Leonid Kozlov is a former principal dancer of the Bolshoi and New York City Ballet. He is also a choreographer, the founder and owner of Kozlov Dance International (KDI) and Youth Dance Festival of New Jersey.

Rambert, is a leading British dance company. Formed at the start of the 20th century as a classical ballet company, it exerted a great deal of influence on the development of dance in the United Kingdom, and today, as a contemporary dance company, continues to be one of the world's most renowned dance companies. It has previously been known as the Ballet Club, and the Ballet Rambert.

Yosvani Ramos Cuban ballet dancer (born 1979)

Yosvani Ramos is a Cuban ballet dancer. He danced with the English National Ballet for nine years, five as a principal dancer, before joining The Australian Ballet as a principal artist in January 2008, where he remained until April 2013. He joined Cincinnati Ballet as a principal dancer in August 2014 where he remained until the end of that season - May 2015. He is currently contracted to Colorado Ballet in Denver as a principal dancer, having commenced in August 2015.

Mona Inglesby

Mona Inglesby , was a British ballet dancer, choreographer, director of the touring company International Ballet, and the person who saved the Sergeyev Collection for posterity.

Alexander Bennett was a British ballet dancer, choreographer, ballet master, and teacher.

Yuka Ebihara Japanese ballet dancer

Yuka Ebihara is a Japanese ballet dancer. Since September 2011, she has been engaged with Warsaw’s Teatr Wielki. Since September 2013, she became a first soloist, and since January 2020 she is a principal dancer of the Polish National Ballet.

Olga Kifyak

Olga Kifyak is a Ukrainian ballet dancer, the 1-st soloist at the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after T.G. Shevchenko. Merited Artist of Ukraine since 2012.

Nikisha Fogo Swedish ballet dancer

Nikisha Fogo is a Swedish ballet dancer who is currently a principal dancer with the San Francisco Ballet and previously a principal at the Vienna State Ballet.
